Someone had mentioned these in the Albino thread, I became interested ;)

There are only a few pics on the internet...

Anyone out there ever seen one?? I know I haven't, but would LOVE to!

Way cool pictures. I have also seen the top pic and would love to see a wild black buck. Here in Minnesota you can shoot an albino deer but there is no mention of a melanistic regulation. I would have to do a full body mount. The good news is I could tell my wife that black goes with every thing. Ha Ha.

The deer in the second picture was taken by a member of this forum.

Maybe he'll come forward and give everyone the story.

When I first saw his pic I thought it was you.

Yeah I thought that was Leo too! ;)

Either way, white or black I will pull the release or drop the hammer! ;););)

Why do some states make it illegal to shoot a deer out of its normal color? First of all, its a genetic defect, you would think they would want this out of the herd.

:confused::confused::confused:

I was bowhunting one November morning, a long time ago, and saw what appeared to be a huge black dog coming towards me in an open field. It was about 9 a.m. The wind was blowing that way, and I just happened to glance out there. Then I got to thinking, I can clearly make this out way across the field...it must be bigger than a dog.

I pulled up the binos, and zeroed in on a big bodied black buck, with a booner sized rack on it. It was possibly coming in to check out a fake scrape I had made a little ways from me. It was working it's way towards me, and had about 100 yards to go, when something spooked it back to where it came from. That was the first, and the only time I ever was graced with that buck's presence. It was a very rewarding hunt, though no deer was taken.
