DU_man_84
my bro was in search of a new rifle so we went out searching we stopped at gander mt, cause there having a 20 million dollar sale on firearms supposedly, he didnt know what caliber he wanted, but its mainly for yote hunting prolly, he was looking at a savage .243 for a decent price and i he wanted to get it but there were some marks on the gun that you just couldnt live with, so then he looked at a nice ruger .204 that was a real nice gun, but i ended up convincing him to get a .223, he wanted a .22-250 but i told him he can use mine whenever, so he has his mind set on a .223, and he wants a nice old traditional wood stock not some of the fancy laminated stocks these days, so we went to mega sports to look and they didnt have anything, but the guy at the desk was real nice and picked up a nice. .22 mag CZ and explained to us he could order a .223 that was identical to it and it was a real nice looking gun, he said he could get it for 569.00 so now my bro is thinking and neither of use no much about CZ firearms, does anyone have an experience with them and any likes or dislikes on them
Leo
$569? Buy it! CZs are probably as good as Rugers IMHO.
doubleA
CZ makes a pretty decent rifle in the 527, while simular to it's little brother, the 452/453 they are not the same. The 527 is a scaled down mauser action to take the 223 Rem sized cartridge. They do have a dovetail in the reciever and some models come with rings. If there is a glitch in the system, it's the bolt handle not having enough clearence for the ocular end of some scopes so that's why the use of high rings. The American is a light weight sporter with a sporter barrel and classic straight comb stock. The varminter comes either in wood or synthetic and uses a slightly heavier barrel contour. All modles come with a 4-5 round detatchable magazine and use single set trigger which is user friendly and the set can usually be under a pound. They come in 22 hornet, 221 fireball,223 rem, 204 ruger and 7.62x39 if I am not mistaken. My 527's shoot about an inch or slightly over with factory ammunition but with handloads the groups shrink a bunch. I hope this sheds a little light on the CZ 527 Here are a couple of CZ's of mine, the wood stocked American is a 221 Fireball and the kevlar synthetic is a 204 Ruger. coles
we have a couple at the store i work and i have played with them a lil bit. the only thing abou the 527s i dont like is the magazine. but i must say the set triggers are pretty cool. it would take me a while to get used to it. just be careful with those triggers cuz we have a 22-250 with one at the store and the trigger is soo light that if you set it and hit the butt stock it will go off! tped
I have the 527 in the 204 Varmint version. Gun is terrific and you would love the single set trigger. I get 10 shots in about 3/4 " with just about everything I try. Actually think it will do better but that is about best I can do with my aging eyes. One day I'll bump into a 223 and buy that also.
