OJR
put my order in for a half a buffalo tomorrow. We are getting down on meat, so it is time to restock! This is the only way to do it with those big so-and-so's! We will pay $2.55 per pound hanging weight and $.50 per pound for cutting and wrapping! When it is ready, we will pick it up in Oregon! Good eating!
007hunter
Had buffalo burgers awhile back and they were excellent. How many pounds does a half buffalo get you?

We should get around 200 to 250 pounds for the half! It will be a 2 year old animal! Not some big old huge bull! LOL!!

NS whitetail
never had buffalo, like to try it though is it tough ?
OJR
never had buffalo, like to try it though is it tough ? Not at all! Very lean, low cholesterol, low carbs and very tasty! All that I have had, is extremely tender. I don't know about some of the big old bulls because I have never had any meat from them!
Adjam5
With that much meat, My guess is that you have a walk in box for a fridge/freezer? I have only had Buffalo in the burger form at diners and such, but I can imagine what a nice steak or backstrap from a Buffalo would taste like. Sounds like good eatin' enjoy! Tominator
There's a few local restaurants that sell it, but I've never had it. I'd like to try it some day.
OJR
There's a few local restaurants that sell it, but I've never had it. I'd like to try it some day. I had a buffalo burger at a restaurant one time and it was so greasy, I couldn't finish it! They must have added a ton of suet to the ground meat.:( After that, I never tried it anywhere other than at home and I have never had any that was bad!:)

OJR
OJR----post it sooner. I would like to do a buffalo hunt & have someone to split the meat with. CB There are places all over that offer hunts! I did that in '04 and am way too old to do that again! LOL! You might check on eBay. There are some ranches in WY that offer the hunts there! If you go on one, make sure you get a 2 year old and not some old bull or cow! Lots of work when one those things hits the ground!:(
christsavedme
Sounds like a pretty sweet deal....never had any myself, but got some buddies that go out on a hunt every couple of years and they love the taste. Keep saying we are going to have a big cookout, but I think they are just being greedy! LOL
