fly
I've read some posts about Thermacell so I looked up the website since I had no idea what it was. The manufacturers state it works for sketters and black flies up to 15 ft high and in diameter. It's not expensive at 31 bucks. Has anyone used it? Does it work? Would the smell of the heated repelent scare deer/bear away?
Straight Shooter
They work great! Especially during the super hot days of fall when every gnat, mosquito, yellow jacket, and every other biting or stinging bug is out.

Tominator
Got one and used it two or three times during early bowseason, worked like a charm. Mine was only $20 though.
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Bought one right before last season...GREAT investment...the is some odor, but from what I seen the deer didn't seem to mind it...
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Mine was only $20 though. yep, paid $21 for mine, I just bought the olive drab one, I bought the holster for it as well, figured no need to spend the extra cash for camo when it won't be seen. Bought one right before last season...GREAT investment:D:cool:...there is some odor, but from what I seen the deer didn't seem to mind it... Guest Andrea
They work great. Sure beats spraying a bunch of skeeter spray when I go fishing.

Rhino
Use it a whole lot. It's the only thing I've ever used that keeps the bitting knats away. I've never used an insect spray that worked on bitting knats. Of course it also works great on any other pesky bitting insects too except for chiggers and ticks. You'll have to take other precautions for them if you need to. So far no problem with deer smelling it or being spooked by it that I can tell. Might just be something that doesn't alert them to danger...not sure. It will be in my turkey vest this spring too.
wtnhunt
Used it for early bowseason here for the first time this past year and it helped with the skeeters some, but did not keep them away completley. Still think the deer in this area knew something was differentt with using it too. Will definitely be taking it with me turkey hunting this spring. Just a theory.

stringpicker
They are the best I will not go into the spring or fall woods without it, especially since I hunt in Georgia and Florida. James W. www.ronpaul2008.com
fly
Thanks for the insight. I'll be getting one for this coming turkey season and maybe 2 or 3 more for the back yard so the kids don't get ate up this summer. Sound slike a great alternative to spraying down their clothes. AdvantageTimberLou
A must have for spring gobblers here in Michigan in the late season turkey hunt. I'd rather forget my turkey calls than my thermacell! Get one and be a believer!!
