Nick
Did anybody else feel like the Daytona 500 was kinda booring this year with the new car? It didnt seem like having a draft mattered as much as it did with the old cars. The cars were pretty much spread out through most of the race and everybody was pretty much cruising at the same pace, drafting partner or not. I liked it when everybody was 3-4 wide, bumper to bumper and all cruising in the same pack. It made it more exciting to me. From a viewers point...the COT got a big thumbs down from me as far as Daytona goes.
craig mack
The last 40 laps were cool to watch but the rest was pretty boring.
Tominator
Yeah, I thought part of the NASCAR acronym stood for Stock Car. I kind of miss when they actually looked like production cars. Most of the race was pretty boring.
Guest Finn
I'm a casual viewer, but it seemed alot more interesting than a few years ago when it seemed no one could ever pass. But, I'm working midnights and watched the first 30 laps, took a nap, then watched the last 30 or so
BowJoe
It seemed like a horse power race instead of a talent race. Obviously some cars have an advantage over others.
IowaDeerHunter
Yeah it honestly sucked, except the last 30 or so laps, not just the wrecks just the racing was exciting. 3 and 4 wide and a huge pack, there is no need for a big wreck for excitement there, just some good hard bumping and banging and moves on the track is fun to watch. c
Guest Turtle
I understand why they have'em ,sort of an endurance test, but never been a fan of marathon races. The coca cola 600 kills me. I love the Bud shootout, and duel 150 type races, the Allstar Race. I think I watch more or the shorter truck, arca, and nationwide races than I actually do sprint cup. I guess I just don't have that long of an attention span, ADD maybe. Seen Erin Crocker moved from ARCA to Trucks this year. Maybe she can be first serious female in Sprint cup series. Still a long way to go though.
Chrud
A plate race that goes that long without a caution, no matter the car would have been like that. The drafting with the COT is much better than the old car because the COT is bigger. Take a look at the Busch race from Saturday. The package they ran was the "premier" plate package of the old style car, with the wickers. The cars couldn't do anything. You should be glad Nick. With the old package, Tony wouldn't have been contested the last three laps. With the COT, a Toyota didn't win.
VABuckSlayer
Restrictor plate races are boring in general until the last 30-40 laps. No need to really race until then. Somebody else said it but some of the races are too long. These guys aren't going to go all out until the last 100 miles of a race anyway. I thought the race was good overall. Back in the day the field was always strung out. At least now they have a chance to pass without having to have a drafting partner. Some guys did it yesterday.
