Guest cheezbuck7
Any suggestions regarding my 6 yr old "daughter" first bow. I'm looking at a horton scout, does anyone know of anything smaller in weight that she would be able to have more control over. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. Should be quite a few bows available that would work for your daughter, just off hand I know that bear, browning, and mathews have pretty nice youth bows. Have no first hand experience with them, but have heard good things about the genesis bows.
fly
My 6 year old daughter uses a Bear kids bow (Wal-mart) and loves it. No cams, just plastic and a string.
Guest cheezbuck7
My daughter has a classic longbow but when she goes to 3D shoots with us she gets disappointed that she has to stand so close to the target because shes not strong enough to pull it back to get any kind of penetration on the target.Thats why I was leaning towards a "crossgun" I mean crossbow for her.Any help would be great so I dont lose her interest. Adjam5
Welcome to the forums:) Take a look at the Mathews Genesis, it has no set specific draw and it has a 20lb draw weight which most everyone can pull. It works for draw lengths from 18"-30" I believe. I also would recommend the Browning Micro Midas series. You can set the draw without a bow press and it is adjustable from 18"-28". It comes in 2 versions, 20-30lb and 30-40lb. These bows should serve you and your daughter well. Good Luck!
AdvantageTimberLou
My little one has a Mathews Genesis. Seems to like it and very easy for her to use and pull back. Best bet would be go to a pro shop and see what they have in the line of kids bows.
Guest cheezbuck7
I was also looking for a bow that she would soon be able to actually harvest game with....Thats why I was leaning toward a "crossgun".By know means am I a crossbow enthusiast as I shoot a Mathews Outback myself but she wants to hunt with dad....Thats why I was looking into crossbows for her. Randy
Check out the Darton Ranger, I need to buy one for my 7 year old son as well and it seems like they have a very wide margin in drawlength and weight. That's kind of the way I'm leaning.
arrow32
I'd look at a Genesis for her. Great bows and they are great to start a little person on. Won't hurt the wallet to awful bad either. Other than that I'm not to sure 6 years old couldn't pull alot of wieght.
