Guest skidmark
Good evening all. I'm not new to blackpowder but I could not stand it any longer and purchased a new Omega Z5, something I said I would never do. {the inline thing}. I mounted a Nikon Omega scope with Leupold QR base and rings {med ht.} My question is b/c of the 5" eye relief I have had to mount the scope as far forward as the rings permit. I am sure someone else has the same setup and was wondering if you had any input or suggestions. Have not shot the gun yet and I am sure it will be a good shooter, just seems strange it does not fit as well as I think it should. Thanks for listening, great site. wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. Really not all that familiar with the omega scope, but 5 inches is what they show for eye relief on the specs. Have had to mount scopes as far forward as the rings would allow before with rifles and they worked out fine.
Guest skidmark
I guess I am just not used to such a long relief, all the way forward was what it took to get the best sight picture, the scope tube is really short also. It just seems awkward to me. Wish I would have bought another leupold. Maybe I will change my mind after shooting it a bit. If someone else is thinking of the same base ring scope setup for their Omega You may consider high rings instead of med. the hammer and barrel are close but do clear, maybe I post a pic. At least it don't hit the rear sight. Skid:D
Guest skidmark
Got back from range today and love this Omega, shot one sub MOA group @100 yds, I can not believe I keyholed one using 2- 50 gr . pellets and a 250 shockwave. Can't wait till deer season.
