Guitar Players

Just curious how many on here play the guitar. I know we have at least one famous guitarist in Dakota. I just recently picked it up back in January and it is coming very natural to me. I'm messing around with both the acoustic and electric. I figured now that I have about 8 months before deer season maybe I can have enough time to practice so I can play with others. Also, thought I might get disowned if I didn't play since my granddad was a bit of a guitar legend in his day and not a single grandkid plays. Anyway, wish me luck!

Been playin for over 25 years. Got about 6 instruments under the old belt. Nothing like sitting down around the campfire, pulling out the old flat top and having a sing along.

It is really fun when you get to a campground and there is another player, or even better, a mandolin, or banjo..... I always take the guitar and a mandolin.

Mel Bay books are really good for beginners. Also go to youtube.com. There are free lessons all over that place. Everything to the first time beginner to more advanced players. I go on youtube all the time to learn new things, licks, chords..etc..

I play in two bands. One is a variety band, depending on what the people want, country, rock, oldies. A few months ago we opened up for Gretschen Wilson and a couple of weeks back we got to play with Cowboy Crush, and Whiskey Falls....

The other band is in my avatar and signature... Its a Rockabilly / 50's band. Lot of Johnny Cash, George Jones, Jr. Brown, Stray Cats, Elvis......etc..

I suggest you pick it up and never put it down. Lot of stress relief and healing through music.

Good Luck, and if you have any questions dont hesitate to ask.

Bought two guitars a few years ago, but after we had our first child in 06, I haven't touched them. Maybe I'll get back into it again and just maybe we can jam a little in the same deer camp some day!

I play mine every now and then. Cheap electric guitar that was given to me by a friend that is really good at electric. Most of the time I just play it without distortion and play chords like I would with at acoustic, but I'm too poor to buy myself a new acoustic with all the other stuff I have to pay for.

I grew up playing violin and french horn. I love music and always wanted to play electric guitar. So, nearly 18 years ago I bought a Fender (with a practice amp) and took lessons. It was great fun! Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, I didn't stick with it.

Our son now has interest, and I told him that the guitar is his! :) He just turned 7 but can hardly wait to learn to play!

Like your band's t-shirts. "Who's Your Daddy":D:D:D Cool sound too.

Hey, I play guitar. Guitar HERO.:D:D Does that count? Actually I've tried guitar but I get frustrated because my fingers won't reach certain chords. But I play sax and piano. I also have a fiddle that I play around with.

I've been playing guitar since I was 14, I'm 25 now. I self taught myself through learning tablature from other band's music. But I can read music when playing the drums. I've played those since 4th grade.

But I'm in a local band here in Columbus and we're actually going to go record in two weeks! :D
