MLB Divisional Predictions 2008:

I know its extremely possible, but just out of curiosity why do you think that:cool:

They went 68-94 last year and they are fielding the exact same team. No changes basically except their bullpen got worse and they have a completely new rookie manager. Their minor league system is still a complete joke so there isn't any hope coming anytime soon.

Matt Morris is making 20% of the entire Pirates payroll....MATT FREAKING MORRIS...the guy had a losing record and an ERA of almost 5.....and that's the guy the Pirates decide to make their big money guy...almost 10 million a year.

Now, as I think about their roster I start to feel hope just because they have a lot of young guys. I mean LaRoche, Bay, Sanchez, Wilson, Gorzelanny etc.... these are all pretty good players. If they play to their potential they could be alright, but as we know they never play to their potential and some how the team always manages to lose.

So like I said, on paper I look at this team and think they should be at least a .500 team, but its the same team that went 68-94 last year so I don't see how we could expect any different this year.

and once those players reach the potentail the pirates wont pay them to stay around:mad:

AL West

LA Angels

Central

Detroit

AL East

New York Yankees

Wildcard--Boston(would love to pick the D-rays here but too far of a stretch this year)

NL West

Arizona

NL Central

Chicago Cubs

NL East

New York Mets

Wildcard--Dodgers

I really think the Dodgers have made the right moves and should contend for the NL West title. I just see them stumbling a little down the stretch and the D-backs using momentum to pull out the W. The Braves should contend for the Wildcard, as well.

Also, I think the Brewers will be in the thick of things but Chicago will ultimately make some mid-season moves that will put them over the top.

Not doing so good in the AL Central that's for sure, but the others are okay for me. I don't expect the White Sox or Baltimore to continue their play.

Tigers are starting to roll now, they'll be leading their division in a few weeks.

No doubt in my mind, if the Indians didn't lose their #3 and #4 hitters as well as their #3 starter, they would have never had to trade CC and they'd be in first by at least 5 or 6 games right now...injuries killed their season.:(

It's funny how down everyone was on the Twins, including myself (I was down on the White Sox too- shows how much I know about the division I watch the most:D). I'm starting to gain some serious respect for the Twinkies organization. They just continue to turn out great young arms. They lose Santana, they turn to Slowey, Baker and some others and they don't skip a beat.

Probably the most intelligent thing they do is build to their strengths. They play on that hard astro turf, so they build for speed. You watch them play, there's really not a whole lot of pop in that order, but they run like a Jamaican sprint team. Span, Gomez, Casilla...those guy slap the ball and then go.
