M00N
Awesome snake! Is that an Eastern Indigo snake? If it is I saw one in a zoo here. They can get huge! The largest non-venomous snake in North America and considered threatened and endangered in some parts of the US. If not, then that is a very big black snake. wtnhunt
That's one honkin snake What kind of snake is that? Black snake? Looks like an indigo to me. They are pretty snakes. Used to see them a lot in central Florida, and they do get pretty big.
HuntnMa
It is an Indigo.....i believe they can get up to 8.5 ' ...i was reading an article how they are on the decline, especially in the panhandle....kinda sad.....the first time i ever saw one, i was turkey hunting by myself, it was the length of the width of the fireline, i almost shot it, i was freaking OUT.....but i didn't shoot it, took it like 20 minutes to get by me, let me tell you that was a long 20 minutes, lol...I've got pics of a breeding pair from yrs. ago, i just can't find them...but i will, lol.....supposely they kill rattlers...and any snake that kills one of them is a friend of mine and the hog dogs..... wtnhunt
supposely they kill rattlers...and any snake that kills one of them is a friend of mine and the hog dogs..... Yep, indigos and black racers both will kill venomous snakes, they are immune to the venom. They are very good to have around.
Tominator
We have some sort of Indigos around here, especially up on Kelleys Island. I haven't seen one in years. That one was huge!

Shaun_300
Cool! Do they like to swim? I see the odd one that looks identical to that up here in the summer, usually in lakes wayyy back in the woods that hardly anyone goes to. Usually see them on the shoreline or sunbathing on a rock. I've seen them go in the water too. Look the same as that just not quite as big.
Guest ckcranch
That is a pretty snake! I don't see how people say snakes are ugly are nasty. I'll kill a cotton-mouth or copperhead, but leave the rest to take out the rats.
Canuck2
What a gorgeous snake! I've never seen one like that, but it would be an awesome treat. Reminds me - our rattlers will soon start coming out of their dens to sun themselves. Time to get some pictures.
