1997xltlimited
i got a mount done about 9 years ago, and had one of the tines fixed on it, it was about half broke. It looked perfect until now. the putty or whatever material used to connect the two pieces of bones is starting to come off and now the horn is starting to get really loose. I could glue it but not sure how that would look? how can I fix this without taking it in and still make it look good. Not sure how to blend the two pieces back together so they look like one it seems there is a piece of wire connecting the two pieces of horn. I was thinking bondo then sanding and trying to stain it to get a close color? please help...
The Kid
ya it might be hard staining it and blending it in with the rest of the rack, i hope everything works out
RTF
Instead of bondo use a 2 part epoxy putty. Can be found at ace hardware or even at wal-mart .
1997xltlimited
any type of two part epoxy? what would be the best way to make it blend in the best?
Hardwood_HD
order some antler stain from a taxidermy supply place, that should match the color a little
Zambo
Go to Van Dykes Taxidermy and order an antler repair kit. It will have the antler sculpt (bondo), wire, glue, and three premixed colors to blend everything when your done. Also included will be instructions. You can mix the colors or use them as there are to match your antlers. Good luck.
