Too many times to count. The worst was a quick afternoon hunt for deer in a new place a couple years ago. Dozed off, woke up later and it was DARK! No light, no nothin. Took awhile to get out, luckily I could see a road down in the valley and used the car lights to get me back to the road. I always have a headlamp and small survival pack on me since then; even for a "quick afternoon hunt".;)

For the record, there is no place more comfortable to take a snooze than in a layout blind hunting geese.

One I remember most was an early season turkey hunt. My little brother and I were out chasing Easterns. Sun came up, I got warm, and dozed off. I was awaken by a "YELP". I had forgotten that he was with me and all most shot the tom decoy that we had placed out earlier. Finally came to my senses and there he was about 30 yrds. beside me just laughing his tail off.

Oh yeah all the time. Hunting can be really slow in the Adirondacks and I can go for days without seeing a deer. Now add a few beers the night before and a VERY comfy climber stand and it all adds up to a recipe for sleep.

Two years ago I fell asleep in my stand. A pileated woodpecker landed on a branch next to me and cut loose at the top of his lungs. If you know what noise they make you will understand why I jumped about 10 feet in the air. I looked over at the bird and said to him, "Ok God, I'll stay awake". :D

after falling out of my deer stand in o4, i do my best not to fall asleep, and when i do i make sure my safety strap is so tight that it wont allow me much moveing room, but still does off now and than, but when i wake and see the ground my heart starts to race and it takes a few minutes to calm down.

Well, in the mornings sometimes i'll nod off, but i won't sleep for very long. One morning turkey hunting though, it was about 55 degrees and my dad and I were hunting and I was sitting against a tree and the sun was shining on me, and i fell asleep for a while. Don't know how long, I just know that and I were both asleep!! LOL

I'm a real morning person so I don't think falling asleep is possible for me until at least noon. Now that is whole other story I love sleeping in the woods I don't care if I'm in a stand or on the ground It's the best sleep I get. My brother says I snore real bad but he says the deer still come through non stop plus there looking at me instead of him. However I was real close to filling my drawers when my brother popped that one buck not a good way to wake up.
