bowhunter862
I have booked a hunt to Texas this year for exotics. I will be hunting a place that is an owner/operator business. 1 guy owns the place, acts as the guide and the cook. I have never traveled to hunt so I need some advice from those of you with experience. My questions are: Should there be any tips given to the owner since he is also the guide. I understand that if I was going on a hunt where the guide worked for the owner I would tip, but I'm not sure on this one so I'm looking for input. For the first time I have to get on an airplane to go hunting so I am asking myself how am I getting the meat home? What are you guys doing to get a 100-200 pounds of meat back home? Give me some more advice on what to bring, what questions to ask the outfitter and what to watch out for. The only thing that is chosen and set in stone is where I am going. That research is done and my deposit has been sent. Although I have been hunting for 35 years I'm a beginner at hunting away from home and my own truck so HELP!! Mirage
I travel to hunt every year, several thing need to be considered. Make sure you have a good case for your bow. I cant tell you how rough the air lines are with my bow case. and be sure to check your bow when you get to your hunting guides place. You can put your meat in a big cooler and ship it over night ups but its exspensive. you can also take it in a cooler and check it as luggage but most airlines have a 50 lbs limit per bag. Remeber that when packing your gear it adds up quick. Most times I have a relative drive my meat to me at the holidays"im lucky that way". Good luck
