aksheephuntress
....If it were me, I would get a Savage in the .22 LR....can't go wrong with that...cheaper ammo, too(at least up here). ....Oh, I just noticed you said PISTOL.....well, I like the S&W mod 34 .22 pistol we carry on the trapline. Rem308
I have no experience with a .17 in a pistol...I have a .22 LR pistol and I absolutely love it. Very accurate, with plenty of knock down. I recently put a red-dot scope on it and really helped with my accuracy. Ammo is cheap and because I seem to always be shooting my .22 LR rifle, I always have plenty of ammo around. I would recommend the S&W Model 22a
bobw
. Look at the ruger interchangeable cylinders 22lr or 22 mag single action holds six rounds great revolver...

If your going to be shooting a pistol I don't see any point in the extra expense of a 17. For very little cash you can practice enough to be very efficient with the 22. I've got a beretta neos and would also look at the browning buckmark. Academy sports usually puts the S&W like Rem308's for $199 about once every 3 or 4 months. They are all reliable good shooting little guns.

WNY_Whitetailer
Look at the ruger interchangeable cylinders 22lr or 22 mag single action holds six rounds great revolver... My thoughts exactly...The 22lr cylinder could be used when you want to plink cheaply and then you could step up to the 22WMR cylinder when you want more range and knock down power...Plus, those Ruger Single Sixes look a ton better than any semi auto. This one is a Single Six with adjustable rear sights. It has a 6.5" barrel and came with both cylinders. I picked it up used for about $285.00. The only things that I have done to it were to refinish the grip and install a set of Wolff Springs.
