RTF
Can you breed 2 dogs that come from different litters, but have the same father ? The dogs were born a week apart, have different mothers, but have the same father. These are black and chocolate labs (pure bred) .
_MD_
I think most folks would shy away from breeding 1/2 brothers and sisters. I'm by no means an expert in the field but I would consider this line breeding. I also know that there are breeders who do line breeding. I think someone doing this would want to make sure, at a minimum, that both dogs pass hip & eye tests. You may have a litter of great pups or a litter of pups whose dominate traits are a combination of the parents weaknesses. With the number of great dogs out there that someone could use I wouldn't do it.

dogdoc
breeding a 1/2 brother and sister would IMO be considered an in-breeding and I would not recommend it. I'm all for a great line breeding as this will usually bring out the traits you are looking for and produce a more consistent puppy (for the traits you want--and even traits that the pedigree has that aren't what you want). When you start breeding that tight you open up the possibilities for unwanted genetic problems such as dysplasia or eye problems. too tight for me. todd
