dbHunterNY
How many do you prefer? Personal preference, hunting region, equipment, and skill level can all affect it, but lets here it. I used to use three, but I'm now trying out a 5-pin sight.
SuperMn106
I use 3, 20, 30 and 40. In michigan I did not get that far of a shot oppurtunity. Now down here I have longer ranges so next year I might move to 4 to get a 50 yard pin.
Blayze
i only use 3. 1 for 20 yards and under the next for 25-30 then my last is for 35 i dont like shooting over 30 at a deer. but i like shooting as far as i can at a target
arrow32
I have a 5 pin for hunting. Goes 20 30 35 40 50 Won't shoot over 30 at a deer tho to be honest.
rhine16
I have 3. Latest setup was 20, 30,
Hardwood_HD
3 pins for me.. 10yds 20 and
Straight Shooter
I use three for hunting 20, 30, and 40; then I use 4 for tourney's 20, 30, 40, and 50. If I hunted out West a lot there would be at least six on there: 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70.
wtnhunt
I shoot a 3 pin sight, but really prefer one pin. With my old bow, I pretty well used one pin set at 25 in practicing for hunting situations, second pin was set for beyond 40 yards primarily for practice, never even set the third pin on that sight. Ohiobucks
2 pins here, 20 and 40. I used to only use one pin set at 25, but I found I am a little more consistant at greater distances with the extra pin.
MUDRUNNER
I use three, but am thinking about switching to two next year.
RangerClay
I'm new to the sport so I am not willing to try the far shots yet. I have 3 pins but I really only use 2. One for 20 and one for 30.
Dubie
I shoot with three, like many here 20 30 & 40. I almost never use the 40, and the 30 rarely. Most of my shots while hunting are probably 25 or less. I used to use 4, but scrapped that sight. I could probably get by with just one pin, but I like to know I can reach out a little further accuratly if the situation ever comes up. Guest Finn
I shoot 2 for practice - 25 and 35 For hunting, I just have one, the 25 yard
hutchies
I shoot 5 pins on my hunting bow and 4 pins on my target bow
toddyboman
5 20 30 40 50 60 50 and 60 are mainly just for shooting at targets.....Don't have many hunting situations to shoot over 30 yards.
okiedog
I shoot a 5 pin sight. Set up at 20,30,40,50,60. When a bunch of us are at the house just goofing around we like to do alot of long distance shooting at targets. For this reason, I usually set my pin housing up first. I sight the top of bubble in at 80 yards:eek: then set all of my other pins in:D.
Guest Finn
BTW....on a Mathews, there's not enough difference in the 20 and 30 yards pins to use
Bowtech_archer07
I use 3, 25, 35, and 40.
shockwave
If you have a self imposed shot distance that you won`t shoot past, lets say it`s 30 yards..Why would you need a 40 and 50 yard pin?? Fewer pins means less of a chance to pick the wrong one.. and unless you carry a range finder you better be darn good at guessing yardage
sskybnd
i use 5, 20 30 40 50
Adjam5
BTW....on a Mathews, there's not enough difference in the 20 and 30 yards pins to use 2 Thats why I have only one pin on my Outback. Dead on to 30 yards, hold on the spine for 40.
preacherman
I am currently using a 4 pin sight. Like it so far.
WHISKEYSWAMP
I use a 5 pin... my next sight will probably only have 3.
dbHunterNY
I shoot a 5 pin sight. Set up at 20,30,40,50,60. When a bunch of us are at the house just goofing around we like to do alot of long distance shooting at targets. For this reason, I usually set my pin housing up first. I sight the top of bubble in at 80 yards:eek: then set all of my other pins in:D. This is important, I learned the hard way. When I first got my bow, with a 5 pin sight, I sighted in the top three and then ran out of room. Good tip. - Dan
dbHunterNY
BTW....on a Mathews, there's not enough difference in the 20 and 30 yards pins to use 2 I shoot a bow made by Bowtech and I notice on my new bow the pins are close too. Maybe someday I'll get a Mathews, but for now I'm pretty happy with the one I have. Happy shooting, Dan
