VTbowman
Just wondering if the 250 Savage has the UUUmmph to take down whitetails at 300 yards? More? Given I do my part of coarse. Thanks
terry264
VTbowman, I'd try to hold the range down to 250 yds. myself as the energy level at that range is down to 1008 ft. lbs. Rem. and Win. both load a 100 gr. bullet for this round but the BC is highest with the Rem. pointed soft point. The Win. load is a silvertip with much lower BC so it doesn't hold up as well at longer range as the Rem. load does. The 1008 ft. lbs. @ 250 yds. is with the Rem. load. Federal and Hornady don't load for it. Good luck.

snapper
I wouldn't be afraid to shoot a deer at 300 yards with my .250 sav. Like you said, do your part and place the bullet behind the shoulder...it will take down a whitetail at that range. The tricky part is though...if you hit the shoulder...will it have enough energy to do the job cleanly?
Hardwood_HD
go ahead, i wouldnt be afraid to use it
Guest onesonek
If you handload, the 110 gr Accubond should get the job done at that range. Dave
LETMGROW
Probably, maybe, kinda! You might be able to do this with a .22 rimfire but why? If in doubt get a calibre you are sure of. Chasing a wounded animal isn't all that much fun, say nothing about not being fair to the game. Are you really going to be in a situation where a 300 yd. shot would be necessary? Guest Desertrat
It would not be my best judgement to try a shot with the 250 at that distance.....but I am pretty confident that it will do the job. I only say that because I have shot mulies at 300 with my .243....and the trajectory of that round will handle that distance ok. I would try some shots with that .250 at the distance first...before trying an actual hunting shot.
iron buck
If the shooter can place his shots the 250-3000 (aka...250 savage)will kill ANY deer that walks at 300 yards. Great cartridge.
