dodge4x4
this year during shotgun season, i drove up to my stand on my 4 wheeler. i literallly parked it rute under the stand! i got off, walked 5 foot and got in my stand. i was in the stand for 5 minutes before a herd of 7 deer walked in. 5 minutes! amazzing! i was so surprised that they came in that qucik. i didnt consider any fo them shooters, so i did the xact same thing next day. deer came in about 10 minutes after i sat down. still no shooters. dont you guys find it a lil odd that they came in that quick and werent scared or didnt get alarmed at the smell of the gas ORRRR the bright yellow honda? lol....comments? feedback? thanks
Guest Finn
Re: kinda cool Probably because they know how good Hondas are. Do you bait them with your 4 wheeler? My Dad does and has had deer nearly chasing him on it. They really get used to the sound of the 4 wheeler and generally don't associate it with danger. dogdoc
Re: kinda cool i can see deer while working on the tractor and it doesn't bother them at all--but if you turn off the tractor and get off---bam they are gone!
wtnhunt
Re: kinda cool Have had deer watch me from the edge of my fields while I am out on the tractor on many occasions. I know we have ridden up on deer on the 4 wheeler on several occasions too. They do not seem to be too concerned with machinery around here. Shaun_300
Re: kinda cool ya it is neat for sure. i was out snowmobiling in the woods, and i came across a deer. so i stopped but left the skidoo running, which is fairly loud. the deer was about 15 yards off the trail and it just stared at me, i moved and i couldnt get him to run off, so i revved up the sled.... still didnt move!! and then drove 10 feet, turned to the other side of the trail and there was another one sitting even closer to me!!! wasnt nervous at all. but i have dont that before and whenever you turn the sled off, they are GONE!!! you would think it would be the opposite! Mach1
Re: kinda cool I've driven my 4 wheeler to my stand and had deer come by me while I'm still on it after I've shut it off. I usually would wait a few minutes to start walking to let things calm down a bit. Anymore though I usually don't park that close to my stands. [/ QUOTE ] Maybe the shooters are a little smarter, then hte younger deer. A buck that has been around a few seasons might relate the sound of the quad, with humans.
