ohiobuckhunter
i am looking for a cheap 223 does anyone have any suggestions on a brand that makes a good 223 and cheap i don't want to spend much money because in ohio i will only be able to use it for yotes or does anyone have one for sale
Hoosierbuck
Can't hardly beat an NEF for the value. Most places you can get one for about $225 or so, NEW. Rossi has a similar break-action that is in that range as well. HB
johnf
I'm on my 4th NEF gun I've got a 223, 243, 25-06 and 7mm-08. For the money you can't find a better gun. Occasionally you can find one at a pawn shop for or from an individual for around $175. Look around or if you want a new one they are easy to find for around $225. ohiobuckhunter
thanks for the info guys what power of scope do you use for them and what is their effective range for a yote
huntinguide
out here in oklahoma i like a wide ranging scope, on my 223 iv got a nikon monarch 6-20 b/c we hunt close in timber but over the hill you can get a half mile shot (not saying i can hit them). Just sum up what you are wanting to do with it, cant go wrong with a 3-9 or 4-12.
Hoosierbuck
I put 3-9's on coyote rigs, since I couldn't hit one farther out than 9x is good to, and more often than not, you only need the 3x. HB
tlott89
i have a rossi single shot bull barrel.and it works great for yote, woodchuck
johnf
I'm by far not an expert on the 223. I've got one but have shot all of 8 shells out of it. For yotes I would say the range would depend on how far you can keep a 4-5" group. For the scope, if your going to try to reach out past 200 yards for a small target I would go with at least a 4-12. If your going to stay under 200 yards a 3-9 should be plenty.

johnf
Let me know how you like that scope. I've got one on my NEF 223 youth. I've only shot it 5-6 times and that was sighting it in. Wish I had more time to shoot.
