huntn4bucks
Had to enter myself in the "geezer" category. Same here. I first started hunting turkeys when I was 14 or 15 years old. That would put it somewhere around the early to mid 1980's. I remember that I didn't have my driver's license yet so I drove my Dad's tractor to the nearby public hunting land. Thinking back, I wonder if I was suppose to have a driver's license for that. Anyway, my very first turkey call was a wingbone call given to me by an ole turkey pro. I still remember the day he gave it to me.
Guest spit_drum
About 15 years, did not start until i was in my 20's, can't understand why i did not try it when i was 12 like deer hunting. cause i have been severly hooked since the first time i ever heard him gobble!!, especially at this time of year can't think about anything else at all. just ask my wife all you hear in our house this time of year is turkeys, the tv shows, or me or my son blowing on calls all day and night. scotman
I started turkey hunting when I was age 16 in 1987. I got lucky that spring and got a gobbler. I also filled my fall turkey tag out too..I remember more of the fall hunt because of running in and busting them up was alot of fun. Hearing for the first time a lost hen, assembly yelps and kee kee run and mimicking those calls was a challenge in itself.
