Grant-KS
Okay, here's the deal...sometimes you've just gotta shake your head at some parents who never teach their kids, or get their kids taught how to do some of the most basic tasks that need to be done in their life. What do you think every boy or girl should learn before they get to age 25? Men, list things for boys. Women list things for girls. Every boy by the age of 25 should know how to: Change a tire Jump start a car Change oil, spark plugs, and all filters in his vehicle Tune up a small engine Use a hammer efficiently Mow and trim a lawn with straight lines Run a chainsaw safely and efficiently Shoot and clean a gun Build a fire Have a rip roarin' good time legally Back a 2-wheeled trailer into a small space Cook a decent meal from scratch and cook any recipe. Wash dishes...ok, you don't have to be a master, but at least get 'em clean. Plant a tree/shrub/flower Find and use trash cans Be a good sport Be a gentleman Help a lady (scrape windshield, hold door, carry load, change tire, etc.) Do his best at work whether it makes more money or not And many many more, but my head just went blank. Continue the list please! I think this could be an interesting thread. Thanks!

texastrophies
Good list, but what I believe is probably more important is how to manage money and even moreso how to save money.
stevebeilgard
good list, grant. all too sad just how many kids hit 25 and still have no clue. they are the ones who's parents were too busy to show them...

Guest Andrea
For the ladies: 1. Tell a man no. 2. Check the oil. 3. Wash dishes 4. Cook ( at least the basics, and not burn everything) 5. Turn the water off at the main valve that runs to your house. 6. Wash clothes without ruining everything. 7. Change a tire. 8. Use simple tools like a hammer, screw driver. 9. Shoot and maintain a gun. 10. Balance a checkbook. 11. Cut up a credit card and don't get new ones. 12. Save money. Country girls should know how to catch fish and clean and cook them. If they hunt then they should learn how to cook what they kill. --I'm sure there's more. These are the important ones I could think of quickly. Guest Finn
For the ladies: Country girls should know how to catch fish and clean and cook them. Guest Andrea
They should also be able to field dress their own deer Good for them if they can but if they can't then they should find a decent, respectable man to do it for them without expecting much in return except for maybe some dinner. horst
Cook a decent meal from scratch and cook any recipe. I cant believe how many people I know that cant cook for anything. Some of them live off fast food and microwave meals it seems like.It should be mandatory they learn how to cook before being allowed to move out of thier parents house:D On a side note my 12 year old wanted a hot dog last night, I told him to get off his butt and make one, he looked at me like i was nuts:o
Randy
I think they ought to know the value of a hard day's work. Too many kids have no idea what that is.

Nut
I would think that there is quite a bit for them to do if they are still considered to be a boy or girl at 24 years old. So my #1 is to become a man or woman by the time they are 21.
