Last night's UFC fight

Was kind of disappointed with last night's UFC. The Finch fight along with the Herring/Kongo fight were a little boring. And the Silva/Henderson fight wasn't quite as exciting as I had hoped, but it still lived up to its hype.

Anderson Silva has to be the best pound for pound fighter in the UFC right now. The guy is scary. I think all they hype Rogan was spouting was basically true. Probably not a better "pure striker" in the game.

Anyone else think last nights fight card was a little on the boring side?? They're going to have to do something if they want to continue charging 50 bucks for the fight or they may lose some watchers down this way.

Sorry Kevin...I've lost interest in the UFC since it's basically a pay-per-view sport. :(

I kind of lost interest as it was originated to be MMA (Mixed martial arts). A lot of it now boils to a few punches thrown to feel out your opponent, a few half hearted leg kicks, shoot in for a single or double leg takedown, transition to full mount the ground and pound until a submission, knockout or ref stoppage. I fail to see where there is much martial arts involved anymore. Don't get me wrong, I do like to watch it, but remember UFC 1-10? That was good stuff brother...good stuff! Watch this video...starts off slow, but is an awesome tribute!

How can you possibly say that MMA was even remotely involved in the "Tournament" style of UFC and not in today's UFC? Just because you wear a Judo outfit into the ring doesn't make it Martial Arts. Just like today, all of Gracie's fights were ended in submission and the other's fights were ended with knockout or submission. The only difference I see is that today's fighters are more serious athletes than the original fighters ever thought about being and they actually have rules now. It's no longer considered a good fight just because you submit a guy and then keep the hold on him until the referee has to pry you off with force like Gracie did in your video. It's also no longer cool to keep kicking a guy or bashing his head in when he's obviously knocked out and has been for the past 10 hits. In the beginning years, it was a show just like WWE where you had guys wearing costumes from the deepest parts of Africa or the mean streets of New York or some other gimmick to bring the interest of the fans up. I prefer today's style by far because there's a strategy to it and you actually have to think instead of just running at your opponent like a crazy Brazilian. In my opinion it's more MMA than ever before. Also, there isn't a guy in the beginning that could even carry the shoes of the guys fighting today. I'm pretty sure Matt Hughes handed Gracie a butt whuppin' he retired from. And Shamrock just runs a gym for MMA. Don't know what happened to the other guys. I think Tank just fought Kimbo and that was a joke for the paycheck only.
