Giblets & Gravy.....Turkey Team #3

Recommended Posts

Keep at em boys!! weather wasn't the best for turkey here on Sat. started raing right at sun up and we had a bird gobble 2 times right when it started raining. got set up and i think he still has hens with him. stay there for an hour or so then set up again and while putting decoys out he gobbles two more times. we thought then that he lost his hens and we were in for a treat. Well that was the last of him. figured he had his hens and had something else on his mind besides the sexy foam hen throwing out some sexy yelping and cutting from a woodhaven mouth call. trying to decide whether or not go back to that same property this weekend. that was the first time i'd been there this year.

Hey team just checking in . I havn't been on in a while because my dad passed away a month ago and ive been really depressed. I will try to get on more often so don't rule me out. I will be hunting here in Illinois in a couple of weeks and seen some big toms strutting around. Then in may, i head up to Wisconsin for the last two seasons. I wish everyone the best of luck and congrats to sportsman on your bird.

I think he's okay. He clearly has had a rough time lately and says he intends to take part as best he can. Seems he has some later hunting seasons such as I (May 21-25). I don't think we should rule him out:). IMHO.

Hey team, my seasons are May 1- 7 here in Illinois and May 14- 25 up in Wisconsin. Unfortunately i will only be able to hunt 6 days combined , 2 in IL and 4 in WI. Usually by now i am swamped with game cam pics of birds from up in WI, but i didn't think of setting them out, there was so much snow anyway the last time i was there. I will be going up there soon to set up the cams, but i will video some birds that are in the yard all the time. My dad would always tell me about what toms he was seeing and would video them for me and that would really get me pumped up for the season, so its really hard for me to feel the same way. I know he would want me to carry on the same way so i am going to try my hardest not to let things get to me. Sorry for the emotional stuff but i will try to participate more often. I will try to get a video on of a big tom i have been trying to get the last two years. I don't know if he made it thru the winter yet but besides the huge double beard , he has a gobble that would make you laugh. I don't have it in the video but i know its him when i hear it, its like no other i have heard.:D

Well folks, My season isn't looking real good this year. But I still have until May 6th. to get the job done.

I have had some close encounters with a few Toms.

How ever I did shoot a Coyote that came charging in at me. Dropped her at 3 yards. That'll wake you up...

Anyway I'm still workin' at it...

Good Luck all...

it has been tough hunting here to . I didn't get to go hunting all weekend because of our prom. But the birds aren't gobbling much, and when they do gobble, they won't come in. But i almost got one yesterday. put the ole' sneak on him. But he was about 65 yards away, and wouldn't come any closer. But i'm still after 'em.

My Dad killed a 21lb Tom with a 9" Beard on Wednesday. The spurs were 3/4". I just got a call that my uncle got one yesterday afternoon 25lbs, 10" Beard and 1 1/4" spurs:eek:. Uncle Don is in his early 70s and had bypass surgery 2 years ago. I guess he had a heck of a time getting him out of the woods.

I still don't hunt till May 21st. Hope everyone else is having fun.

BBD...Big Bird Down...

Well team mates I finally put the smack down on a good bird this morning. My hunt last about 20 minutes...LOL...

I have been chasin' this bird for a good while and this morning I whispered some sweet nothings in his ear and he came a runnin'.

I called this bird from over a 1000 yards away. No Joke...

Not only did the one I got come in so did another one from a different direction.

Ole Mr. Tom strutted all the way up to me with in 8 yards before I took my shot.

Let me say that this years season has been a tough one for sure.

Here's a pic of me and the bird. I will post him up soon for a score...

22lbs.

10 inch beard

7/8 inch spurs

Hey team, i went up to Wisconsin this past weekend and saw loads of birds. I seen 1 nice tom in the yard and i forgot the camera in the truck:mad: I put out the game cam yesterday morning and look what showed up, a bearded hen. This bird is definitely on the hit list. I have 2 tags so one of them has her name on it. Congrats Griz on an awesome bird:)
