Rhine.. did you call to that bird last weekend? Just curious if you did, you might try getting out there and just setting out a deke and just sit there and wait for him to show for a while. Just an idea....

Good luck this weekend punkinslinger

Talked to my dad last night and there is someone hunting the land that we will on this weekend and he heard a ton of gobbling yesterday morning but as soon as they hit the ground they shut up. It was cool, and breezy yesterday so that may have somethin to do with it. It's supposed to be in the 60s all week this week so hopefully that will get them birds talking!!!! I'm so ready for next weekend!!!

A guy hunting the place i'll be this weekend shot a Quadruple beard this morning!!! It had a 10 main beard, 4 or 5 inch second beard and the other 2 were just short nubs. 3/4" spurs and 20 lbs...He heard about 20 different birds and saw one w/ a beard dragging the ground. I'm sooooo ready for this weekend!!!!!

Hahahahahaha! I might just have to go buy a Bmobile for him ;)

My dad and uncle dubbed a few birds gay a couple of years ago :). They ended up ambushing them the last weekend. Said they'd gobble their heads off every morning until they started calling ;)

20 birds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow!! I'll be on my way to Illinois for the last season with you :):)! You can come down and hunt the MS rut on Christmas break :);)! Deal?? :)

Oh i got ya. Haha.

How come you are hunting different land???

Cause in IL you have to apply for counties to hunt in. I have this land to hunt early season, and the other land is good land, so I applied for 2 permits, one on this land and one on the other land so we don't pressure either place too much;)

Plus the landowners of the place i'll be on this weekend hunt as well and we don't to be out there too much. Even if I drew a 5th season for that land, it wouldn't be a problem, but we try to stay off of that land for the most part because they live in Chicago and come down here on the weekends and they like to hunt and spend time on their land;)

I got ya man.

My uncle shot the funny bird this morning at 35 yards. Bir just came across the field, and he waited. No calling or anything. When he shot, the bird wobbled back a few steps and took off running across the field. He has no clue what happened.

BTW Bowtech, like the new avater

No, he has not a clue what happened. Oh, and guess what.... A man and woman who live across the road and a few hundred yards to the side of that field took pictures of the bird walking down the ROAD at 8:30(shot was at 9:30). I told my uncle I was proud that he didnt kill him. That bird is so stupid, I wouldn't even want to put him over my shoulder! :)

Went out scouting for my son a daybreak and first stop I heard 2...thought coool. Drove down the road abot 1/2 mile and there on the road was 10 jakes 1 longbeard and about 5 hens! Drove a bit further and saw one longbeard cross the road and a bit further saw a hen with about an 8" beard! Looks good for the youth opener Sat.

That's awesome punkin!! Best of luck again to you.

Rhine, I hate to see turkey season close as well, but when it closes in May, i'll start working and keeping busy. I work on a farm which I love so i'm outside all of the time anyway. Also, I'll be at home instead of up here at school so I can shoot my bow, gun, and go look for wildlife anytime I want. That helps the cabin fever a lot!! LOL

BTW, thanks for the good luck wishes.

Basketball is my favorite sport, but I played baseball for about 8 years when I was younger. I still enjoy it, I'm a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan!!

During harvest, yes, I come home on weekends. Corn harvest is before deer season, so I come home and help out because corn is the most hectic part of harvest because the combine can go faster. With beans the combine has to slow down and really only 1 person needs to be out there. During corn, sometimes we have 3 or 4 straight trucks(5 speed grain trucks) running back and forth between the field and the bin. It's fun, but it's gets crazy at times. I started working out there when I was 14. My boss is a family friend that we have known for a long time and he's become like a second dad to me.
