redbeard
Well buds, we're on the board. Over the past 3 days, 5 longbeards came to the gun, two died with the first being a good 'un. 11" beard, 1 1/8" spurs, 21.5 lbs. I'll be posting a story and the required photos in a day or two. Getting excited now
Guest csod08
Sounds good GobblerBuster. My mom saw a nice tom cross the road right down from my house two days ago, but the birds have seemed to go silent on me for the time being. As long as they're gobblin by the 26th I'll be happy. boonencricket
Well guys I managed to call in a total of 7 jakes so far. My buddy took one of the Jakes Saturday evening. Got it on video for him. This evenings hunt was blown by cows. I was set up in a pasture with 2 hen and a jake decoy out. I had made 2 series of soft calling when the cows came into my decoys and a calf started chewing on my jake decoy. When I jumped out of the blind to run them off there was a tom in full strut headed my way. Of course the cows ran right for the gobbler and he flew off. Don't think the gobbler ever seen me or the decoys due to a slight ridge in the pasture. I will be after them hard this week. Best of luck to the team. Guest csod08
Congrats to your buddy. It would be neat to see the video. Its good to hear that you are atleast seeing birds. Maybe next time you'll bring that gobbler in and the cows won't be around. Best of luck to you.
VABuckSlayer
I hope you guys have some luck! I'm struggling to have time to go. Our season started Saturday but my 5 year old boy had his opening day of T-ball and his game was at 8:00am. I didn't get to go hunting before 12:00pm. (Can only hunt until 12:00pm in VA and no hunting on sundays) This Saturday and next I have bass tournaments. Unless I can come in to work late one morning I'll have to wait till the last 2 Saturdays of the season and it will be tough then. I sure hope I get a chance to contribute to the team this year!!! The last 2 weeks of the season we can hunt all day. We'll see how it goes.
GobblerBuster618
good luck to everyone still. Did some scouting this weekend. watched over 15 turkeys fly down. Saw 3 mateur gobblers and 3 jakes. Hope the season turns out well for me. Hunt smart and hunt safe fellas
boonencricket
The video is not that great, i had to film through the mess on the blind. They tried to circle around us instead of coming to the decoys.
redbeard
Good luck boone. Know 'bout cows. Once had one lick my double barrel as I was set up on some pasture toms.
