Guest csod08
Well guys my season starts tomorrow. I heard 5 different birds this morning and have been hearing about 3 consistently all week so I have a pretty good idea where they are. The weather is supposed to be pretty good so I'm liking my chances, but you just never know with turkeys. I'll let you guys know how I make out. Guest csod08
Well nothing for me yesterday. Heard a gobbler way off early in the morning and called in a coyote to 20 yards, but my brother couldn't get a shot at it. I'll probably be back out Tuesday morning. Good luck to everyone else. GobblerBuster618
well all i killed a bearded hen this morning. I'm assuming it counts for the contest but it wont score very high at all with no spurs. She had an 8 inch beard. look for photos in the turkey hunting room soon! Guest csod08
Congrats on the bird. It does not matter about the score, I know I definitely would not have passed it up. Its not something you come across everyday.

Guest csod08
Well I went out this morning and I did not get anything, but it was still a great morning. It started off extremely slow as we did not hear a bird on the roost and my dad and I could not get a bird to gobble with any of the locator calls. Eventually at about 7 I decided to just use my slate and see if I could get anything to gobble and instantly one responded really close. It was probably about 100 yards away up near a field. We could not see the field because it is raised up and we were down below, so we set up where we were and I began calling. 2 gobblers answered and came right to the edge of the field. I could see them at this point and they were 2 big birds. I could not get them to come any closer though and they went back into the field and I could hear there was a hen with them. They still answered like every call and ended up going in a semi circle around our setup managing to stay out of range for us to get a shot. A bit later I called in 3 jakes and they came within 10 yards of us and just stayed there for about 15 minutes. They were not really sure what was going on, but we did not manage to get those 2 big birds to come in any closer unfortunately.

Guest csod08
I'm still trying to go at it. I've had quite a few close encounters so far this season but I've come home empty handed each time. I still have 2 weeks left to hunt though.

lil hunter
gobblerbuster618, do you ever smile? My season ended today. I only ended up getting to hunt twice this year, and I saw more hunters than I did turkeys. Not bad for private land huntin eh? Sorry I couldn't help the team any. And good luck to the rest of you that are still huntin.
