BAMABUCKS
Hey TB, sorry about your loss doesn't come close to being appropriate, but just don't have any other words right now. Can't begin to imagine what you must be going through right now & frankly hope none of us ever have too. Please know that you & all involved will be in my prayers & I pray that the Lord will comfort each of you. In the midst of this tragedy may God be glorified & may he fell each of you with His peace and love. God Bless.

M00N
Sorry I've been quiet in this post lately guys. I've been trying to get my gear all situated for my trip in May and making sure my reservations at the cabin were still good to go. I'm sorry about your loss Cody! I hope you can come to peace soon with your loss. For everyone who is out there now or soon will be out there hunting soon I'm wishing you all luck on connecting with a bird! I had two in my backyard the other morning. You don't know how itching I was to shoot one with my bow. I think they knew I was a turkey hunter and were teasing me on purpose. ruttinbuc
So sorry to hear of the loss of your friend, turkeybuster. It is never easy when one so close is lost. I hope you can honor him by getting out and shooting a big tom. I am sure he would want you to do that. I am also guilty of being absent from these threads as my season does not get started until the last weeks of May. No excuse not to get in here more often. I have been busy fishing a bit in the meantime and trying to be positive in what looks like a very bad year for turkeys here. I know where there may be a few gobblers and hope that they are still there when the time comes. This lone hen has a nest in the little woods behind my place. I have yet to see or hear any other turkeys there.
Guest Colorado Bob
I called a bird in for my wife on Saturday. 3 hens & a jake. She took the jake @ 25 yards. Gobbling is slow here. I'll go out this weekend & see if I can call in a long beard. CB

M00N
Well, guys I'll be heading out the early morning of the 4th to the turkey hunting cabin to setup my blinds for Monday's hunt. I'll be staying up there close to a week for turkey hunting. I won't have internet again until I return a week later. Hopefully I'll return with a turkey for the team. I'll be giving it my all. M00N
Well, guys it appears the turkey gods weren't on my side again this year. I had a really rough hunting trip. I did have fun, but I was met with quite a bit of issues during almost the entire trip. If it wasn't raining in the morning during the trips, and I mean serious drenching rain that I got soaked to the bone in, then it was other hunters setting up close to me and fighting me for the same birds. I got to see three jakes the one day that I was positive would have came in for a shot, and I would have been more than happy to settle with a jake, but they spooked when some hunters went walking down the path on the other side of them and they took off running through the woods immediately. I had no time for a shot, even though they did run through in range at one point. They were just booking it way too fast. Almost all the other days I had 2-5 gobblers each day that I would call in, would be extremely vocal with me, and just before they'd get to be in view another hunter would setup nearby and start fighting me for the birds and calling them away. Once multiple pressure was put on these birds most of them stopped being vocal, would head inside the safety zone and follow the zone the whole way out of sight. The one day the other hunter and I were fighting back and forth for the same single bird so hard that for a half hour the poor bird was so confused he just paced back and forth gobbling on the grass road unsure which way he wanted to go until he finally got frustrated and went down into the safety zone and took off. I gave it my all the entire trip. I went out rain or shine and went after the birds. I just didn't have luck on my side and there were a lot of hunters around that zeroed in on the multiple vocal birds that I managed to get every morning and came flocking in wanting a piece of the action. So, I apologize that I couldn't help out the team, but I am 100% I won't get back out again to hunt turkeys before the season closes. My season is officially over for me and birdless. I hope everyone else had better luck than me this season!
turkeybuster
Congrats to everyone who got one:) Sorry to hear you didn't get one moon.
ruttinbuc
Congrats to those who got their birds and maybe next year for the rest. It has been a tough year here for me. Monday was a rain out with conditions being dangerous to be in the woods Tuesday, I enticed three hens that I was hoping would draw a Tom. No such luck. Nothing, Wednesday and Thursday. The birds are very quiet as they have been hunted hard the past month or so. Trying to get one to gobble. Will try today as I have the day off and able to get out before daylight. Maybe I'll hear a gobble or two off the roost. Would give me a little more hope. M00N, there is no need to apologize. It is all about the hunting and sometimes it just isn't meant to be. I admire your tenacity for the hunt. Can't say you didn't try.
ruttinbuc
Today was a washout again. Rained hard all morning and not a bird was heard. I did see a rooster with a few hens on the ride home though...See what happens next week.
ruttinbuc
Cool and windy day yielding nothing, but a few widowed hens. Not a gobble heard.
