Congrats 3 seasons that is a good bird. Of course any bird you can pose behind is a good one. I bought my Ks license online and have two tags burning a hole in my vest right now. I also have to agree that no one who is in the woods in the spring can deny there is a God. I would much rather be in the woods (his cathedral) thinking about God than in church (built by man) thinking about turkey hunting. I should be in KS by the 11th of April ready to go. I have near wore the pockets out on my vest checking and rechecking the contents. Oh Yea I am ready

I have only hunted near Topeka on the north side. Yes it is awesome. I killed two toms last spring and killed two hens in one day last fall. Got a hen in the morning and one in the evening when the flock of 30 or 40 birds were coming back to roost. That was way too easy. I think I will bend over nexttime and shoot one from between my legs up side down. Lol.:D

Has any on your seasons started?

How is it looking where yall hunt?

Friday I called up 2 jakes about Noon to within 15yds 3 different times.

Sat. I had a visitor set up about 70yds from me. If the birds had hit the ground he would have shot me. So I got up and had a chat with him. First words out of his mouth, “I know that I’m over the line a good bit but most of the time the birds are on my land and I just wanted to get closer to them”. He had his niece with him and wanted to show her a bird. I had a good conversation with him and told him he could stay as long as he didn’t shoot anything. I’ve never crossed his line when the birds were on his land. I wound up making a big loop in the woods and came out about 11am I could here him calling from a different spot and 2 birds gobbling. I had to work at it but I managed to call both birds off of him to me but all I could see was their heads so I didn’t shoot. (I was scared they were the jakes from the day before.) Needless the landowner had a talk with him after that hunt.

Sun. before Church I heard him closer to his line, and had 3 birds gobbling. I wound up calling one in after and hour of working him. He got to 28 steps and I must have YANKED on the trigger because I smooth missed. I still have no idea what happened. The next shot blew a tree in half . I never found a feather or any sign that I touched him. I hope I didn’t touch him at all. Guess it happens. Bad part is I was joking with a good friend on Sat about missing. Should have knocked on wood.

Just got back from Kansas this afternoon and am really tired and a lot of chores to catch up on. I got 1 bird in Kansas my tally sheet is still packed but as I recall it weighed 20 lbs had a 10 1/2 inch beard but neither spur was much more than 3/4 inch. I did get the advanced technologies pistol grip stock and although I hunted with it I did not get a chance to shoot with it. I really like the stock. The Kansas birds seemed to be really henned up and difficult to get much of an answer after flydown. We pretty much pushed the birds off the private land we are allowed to hunt but the public land is about covered up in birds.
