PA_RIDGE_RUNNER
Now Now don't beat yourself up because it is a jake. I have been out 4 times here locally and only heard turkeys once. Maybe a jake would look nice to me too. They are all trophies some are just bigger than others.
PA_RIDGE_RUNNER
Was out this morning here in PA nice morning. I went up a farm lane that was camoed as a pot hole repository and huge breakers. got there and walked out a field at the base of the mountain. Got to the far end and just started up the mountain when I thought I heard a gobble. Yep I did hear a gobble and once they started there were 5 or 6 gobbling their heads off. After several days of not hearing anything it was real music. I sneaked as close as I dared and set up. I could hardly get a call in crosswise but managed to let them know that love was just down the mt. No luck as they headed the other way after flydown but it sure was sweet listening to that many gobblers sounding off.

PA_RIDGE_RUNNER
Was out again this morning. Had a gobbler sound off at about 7:30 I worked him for over an hour till he came to the edge of the woods. Of course I was at the bottom of the field from the woods. A posted ground thing. Try as I might that old tom would not come out into the field. I played with him till about 10:45 till he walked off. I did have two hens come by and say hello. The first one was about 80 yards away and started putting like crazy. I had not moved other than blink my eyes so was very confused as to what she saw. She flew to the woods and then I saw a house cat come out of the woods into the field. The other hen came by while the tom was gobbling and stood in my decoy spread and cackled for a couple of minutes. I figured if a real hen would not get a tom to come what were my chances. At 11:00 I found out, he beat me this time but I have a plan for tomorrow. HeHe.
dogdoc
congrats to all who have scored. I hunted by butt off--twice a week during the season and finally heard my first gobble this last weekend. He was a long ways off and I couldn't call him in. My season ended today so I didn't help the team out at all! sorry and good luck to the rest of you still hunting. todd
3seasons
Hate to hear that Todd, I know how it feels. Maybe next year. You should try to make a road trip up to KS. Congrats on the bird bowhunter.

PA_RIDGE_RUNNER
I was out 3 or 4 times a week for the whole month here in PA. I had a whole bunch of excitement but did not fire a shot. Now that the season is over I plan to treat my trenchfoot and frostbite and go fishing. Even though I ended the season plumb wore out physically I find life after turkey season is so mundane. Think I will go wack a groundhog.
