3seasons
Which is better a 3 or 4 blade head. I have always used a 3 blade but I don’t like how the blades are attached to the head. They are only held in by the tip and the base. They are nice heads but I’m going to make a swap to either the MX3 or 4 or one of the New Slick Trick’s. What are the advantages and disadvantages of either head. I have never had much dealing with a 4 blade head this is why I’m asking. Thanks for any input. SuperMn106
I have used the Muzzy 3 blades for the past couple of years and have not had a problem with them, so in my case I see no need in changing.
Tominator
3 IMHO. Read an article way back when that said the effects of a 4 blade in cutting area do not outweigh the gain in penetration with a 3 blade. 4 blades tend to get heavy too. Straight Shooter
The new MX heads and Slick tricks have a steaper angle of cut which creates a need for more energy to push the heads through the animal. Granted you hit them in the right spot you don't havea thing to worry about. I've used Muzzys for the last 16 years in the 100 and 75 grain heads. The 75 I've used for the last 4 years and have had great success with them.
hutchies
Actually it depends on the cutting diameter. Honestly here is the list of heads I have on shafts that I hunt with. Magnus Stingers and Buzzcuts G5 Montecs NAP Shockwaves and Spitfires I'm forgetting some................Hopefully I will remember them later. All fly well. Tom2008
From what I can tell a 4 blade head has a smaller cutting diamter than a 3 blade atleast that is the case for Muzzy broadheads.
Guest bowhunter56
I like the 3 blade G5 stryker, 100 Gr.
Guest Finn
3 Blade Muzzy fly better for me than the 4 blades do Next year, think I'm jumping to the Rage 2 blades, though
Hardwood_HD
i have shot deer with both 3 and 4 blades but i like 3 blades better for some reason
4Blade
Personal preference,,,,,I have always shot 4 blade heads one of my buddies has always shot 3 blade heads,,,,And we kill deer with both types..........Most 4 blade heads have a smaller cutting dia but that extra blade makes up for the cutting surface........As for penetration,,,,Dont sweat it with a fixed head 3 or 4 blade,,,,,With todays compound bows penetration is not really an issue with fixed heads........ :D

Chrud
I've had great luck with 4-blade heads. I've used Muzzy 100 4-blades and the last two seasons the MX-4. The MX-4 has thicker blades and a slightly bigger diameter. However, the blood trail on my buck this year, which was a double lung, complete pass-through, was less than impressive. It wasn't difficult to follow, in fact it was a great trail the first 30 yards. Towards the end the trail really slowed. However, the broadhead went right through ribs, stuck 6" into the ground and was not effected. I might be switching this year though. Might try the MX-3. I'm also interested in the Slick Tricks and maybe, just maybe the Rage.
mo_hunter
I've had good luck with both, just depends on your setup (KE) and tuning. I've shot NAP nitrons the last 3 years and really like them. I'm going with slicktrick magnums this year, great flight and more cutting diam. And for the turkey I might just try the gobbler guillotine this year. Guest elknut
3 or 4 blades Montecs are awsome... I switched from Muzzys 90 grian 4 blade last year and they flew spot on... penertation is awesome even though they don't seam to be quite as sharp they are deadly. Ethan Givan
I have used Muzzy 3 blade for the last three years and I like them. I have heard that it is harder to tune 4 blade heads but Im not sure.
