johnf
Yeah, and Opra and Obama go to the same church  Do they really? That is a truly disturbing post Andrea. The sad thing is many in the black community will blindly follow her. I have copied that and sent it every black person who's email address I have. Guest Andrea
Do they really? That is a truly disturbing post Andrea. The sad thing is many in the black community will blindly follow her. I have copied that and sent it every black person who's email address I have. I think you should send it to every CHRISTIAN. The black community is supporting Obama in part because he's black and I'm sure it is helping BIG TIME that Oprah is behind him too. However, for her to hold these "Miracle Teachings" on her website and her radio show is even worse. What really surprised me is that Robert Schuller has bought into this also. ( Televised pastor at the Crystal Cathedral) Of course, this has all been foretold in the Bible. False prophets and wolves in sheep's clothing. You gotta stay on your toes...... ybronco
I have mentioned very delicatley to my wife about her support of Obama and my discomfort with it but I'm sending her this so she can read it for herself. My wife likes Oprah alot and always counter's back about all the good things she does, this troubles me for many reasons but mainly because were not getting into heaven because of our actions. Were faith based believers. Thank you for the info.

aksheephuntress
WOW!........I am totally amazed. I have never seen a more powerful example of how the media can skew things completely around....no wonder the media has twisted this election so easily,also.... I don't watch Oprah Winfrey, and haven't delved into what she is about(though, I agree with you...I hear she is really powerful-I know she's famous, as far as able to influence people (which can be dangerous, if people can't think for themselves). ...I was shocked when I clicked on that link....that isn't what the Course of Miracles is, at all. We have both read that years ago....it is a beautiful collection of peaceful, loving, and contemplative (and positive) affirmations, that don't in one -iota attempt to defraud or blasphamise the Word of God. ...I was brought up in church(Lutheran/Methodist)...I love the Lord God ,and my Savior Jesus Christ with all my heart, and mind, and soul........and my man was brought up in church also-a conservative man, servant of his fellow man, and 32nd degree mason....He is not drawn to the "New Age" fad. ...We never thought of that writing as something of a "cult following"....I don't know where those "doomsdayers"get all that paranoia they read into it from. ....But, I will say what I know to be true in my heart....( at least for me)...that God IS in everything....he is First, and Last...and beauty is all around. I know and feel that so completely...when in the mountains,or on a river,especially.-Maybe it is my part-Native American heritage,I don't know. ....This view does not negate the true teachings of Christ....it honors and verifies them. ......I'm not wanting to criticize your thread, Andrea....I would have been suspicious, too,if I had seen all this stuff about Oprah, and the excerpts analyzed and opinionated on, like this was on the web........it WOULD of made me think,too..."Hey,what is this crap!?!"......But I know this book well.-And it's not supposed to be something you do or think, opposite of Christianity. ......Not trying to push it on anyone, either. Just trying to clarify something about it. ..Anyway....hope you don't hate me for my views-One thing about me, I will always promise to give you my honesty, and will respect your views.(I might have opinions on them, though:))-
Guest Andrea
Well, what I've read so far in her "teachings" links on Oprah's website tells me all I need to know. It's not what God teaches. Maybe those teachings have changed since you read it last. I dunno. This isn't something I'd want my children or anyone I cared about to get involved in. Just click on the "TALK" link to read what people are saying about this: http://www.oprah.com/community/community/oaf/mwilliamson?view=discussions I don't hate you Kathleen. Absolutely not. Don't worry about that.

buckee
Nope, not the same Jesus I believe in. A Course in Miracles is allegedly “new revelation” from “Jesus” to help humanity work through these troubled times. This “Jesus”—who bears no doctrinal resemblance to the Bible’s Jesus Christ—began delivering his channeled teachings in 1965 to a Columbia University Professor of Medical Psychology by the name of Helen Schucman. One day Schucman heard an “inner voice” stating, “This is a course in miracles. Please take notes.” For seven years she diligently took spiritual dictation from this inner voice that described himself as “Jesus.” A Course in Miracles was quietly published in 1975 by the Foundation for Inner Peace. For many years “the Course” was an underground cult classic for New Age seekers who studied “the Course” individually, with friends, or in small study groups. No thanks. Jesus has already warned us that if anyone, even an angel brings us another gospel different than what we have heard from him, to not believe them.
