craig mack
Do you know anyone who made it? I went to high school with Jim Cummins (played in the NHL) he was more of a fighter than a player and I also went to high school with Derek Lowe (pitcher with the Dodgers). He was actually better at Basketball than Baseball in high school.
WHISKEYSWAMP
I know a few guys that spent a little time in the NHL... Rene Chapdelaine, Mark Vermette, and Mark Vichorek. They all played at Lake Superior State with Doug Weight and won the NCAA National Championship.
Tominator
Proud to say I taught this guy Accounting, and Computer Applications in high school. Went to school with Bryan Thomas too. I think he still holds some records at Pitt, played for the Packers for a year or two I think. Played against a few dudes that made it to the NFL--George Swarn comes to mind. muggs
Mike Rupp was a really good friend of mine in grade school. He was a great hockey player (who I played with many years) and ended up being drafted in the Top Ten of the NHL draft. He never really lived up to his size or potential, but ended up being called up from the minors during the playoffs and went on to score the Stanley Cup winning goal for New Jersey, four or five year's ago. He brought the Cup to my old hometown (where my Dad still lives) and was on Letterman with other Devils players...he has played for the Devils, BlueJackets, and the Coyotes...not sure if he's still in the league anymore. Sort of a career minor leaguer who had his 15 minutes at the right moment.

muggs
Thought you said you knew Fritsche too. Oh yeah, know the family. They owned the only hockey equipment store in the area when I used to play- happened to be in Parma too (now in Strongsville). Dan was really young when I was playing still, but I know his older brother Luke a lot better. Lukes 2 or 3 years younger than me.
rhine16
Know a couple that fizzled away in the minors(baseball), but none that ever made it to the pros.

Most will remember him with the L.A. Lakers.

Some of you might have heard of Mike Holtz who pitched in the MLB. And a guy names Rick Roberts who pitched for the dodgers. And another one is an older guy that lives a few miles from me. knows my dad pretty well (witch is how i know him) who played in the MLB, but i forget what teams he played for. His name is Jean Decker. He's over 70 years old and still compeats. In fact he's going to Las Vegas this week to play ball.
texastrophies
I played co-ed softball with Christa Williams who was on the gold medal winning USA softball team in the 2000 Olympics as a pitcher. She pitched a few balls to a number of us and no one was able to hit a ball off of her.
BowJoe
My cousin was engaged to Jennifer Capriati for a few years until he broke it off. She still calls him and they're friends but he said her dad rules her life for the money. I met her a few times a couple years ago. She was really cool to hang out with. We went out visiting local graveyards. I found out how hard of a back hand she really has. We were trying to scare the girls and told them that if they fell in an open grave to just climb out or yell for help. We might hear them. So some of the guys hung back and waited for the girls to get a little bit ahead of us and then we ran towards them and grabbed them yelling, "GRAVE!" I grabbed Jen and she turned around and punched me as hard as she could in the arm. Man can she hit. I had a bruise the next day. My cousin got me a tennis racket that she broke in the US Open, a tennis ball, autographed, from the US Open and an autographed picture from her winning the Olympics. I gave it all to one of my favorite teachers who collected such things. See Chris, I appreciate my teachers. She was nice but very casual and relaxed. I talked to her several times when my cousin was staying with us and she would call. We joked a lot about her fame and we agreed that this would be the place to get away from it all since the only tennis courts we had were at the community park. Tominator
See Chris, I appreciate my teachers. . That's cool Joe. I remember when I asked Ben to autograph a hall pass for me, he did laughing, I told him "just remember when you make your first million, I need some hunting property..." I got to hold the Claret jug, but I think Ben is still looking for my land, cuz I haven't seen any of that money yet. I still have that hall pass too. DSGB
I played rec. ball and high school baseball with Reggie Abercrombie. He was drafted by the Dodgers in the 23rd round, decided to go to college, called up in '06 by the Marlins and played outfield for a while, but was sent down last year cause he still can't hit a curve ball. He was claimed off waivers by the Houston Astros and is on the active roster for '08.
colts1888
Played all through little league and high school with Aaron Heilman of the New York Mets. He was a starter his entire career but the Mets have made him a reliever. He hasn't done too bad overall, he did give up the HR to Molina of the Cardinals in that playoff game though that sent the birds to the series. He was unhittable in high school, also broke all kinds of records at Notre Dame. http://mlb.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=408310
unioncountyslayer
Went to High School with Todd Fuller. He led the ACC in scoring his senior year, and was drafted 11th overall in the NBA draft. He was definitely a bust in the NBA, but he still made it and stuck around for 7 years with various teams. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Todd_Fuller Also, my Great Uncle Johnny Peacock played catcher in the "Bigs" for 9 seasons with the Red Sox, Phillies and Dodgers. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/players/player.php?p=peacojo01 And lastly, I played AAU ball with Antawn Jamison of the Washington Wizards. I still keep in touch a few times a year with him.

BowJoe
I forgot to mention this guy:Kai Nürnberger. He was an exchange student at my high school when I was still in grade school. He went to our church and I used to play pick up basketball games with him and several others. I guess his claim to fame is that he guarded Michael Jordan in the 1992 Olympics better known as the Year of the Dream Team. He played for the German National Team that year and ironically he came back to my home town for a visit when I was in high school. We played another pick up basketball game. Also, Doug Collins and John Malkovich are from my home town too. Met Doug Collins a few times when he was visiting. Once when he was coaching the Bulls and once as a commentator. John Malkovich's aunt lived next to me and I saw him once paying a visit to her. I didn't know it was him until I talked to his nephew at school and I told him I saw him next door. He said he and his uncle John were visiting their aunt. It still didn't click for a few mins. Then it hit me. I was dumbfounded.
