Experience with 7mm-08

Last year I purchased a 7mm-08 in a Stevens Model 200. I know it is a cheaper rifle but I don't have the money for a super expensive one. I put a 3-9 X50 Nikon Scope on it. I placed it at 2" high at 200 yards. It's recoil is low yet still higher than most other shortaction rifles. I dropped a 9 point at 250 yards this fall with it and it went right where I aimed. I love how they shoot. They are very flat and fast and seem to never let me down or amaze me. Over all I find the rifle a great starter rifle for anyone or even some intermediate to advanced rifle shooters. On a scale of 1-10 it is an easy 8.5 with the only problems I saw were availability of bullets and variability of stock loads.

Yea, I have always shot .270's and .300's and it is nice to shoot something with hardly no recoil compared to them. I have a .243 that I can bust milk jugs at 350 that I hardly ever use and I don't know why.

The 7-08 is a great round. Probably one of the more underrated ones out there, really.

From what I can hear and read........the Stevens 200 is a heckuva shooter for a cheaper or more expensive rifle. They just work. I see you did the smart thing and put a decent piece of glass on top.

Sounds like you gotcher self a real handy rig. Got pics to post??

No I sadly don't. I will try to get some pretty soon but I would rather wait until I get a new stock on it. They are a cheap good rifle but the stock is so ugly!! I plan on getting a thumbhole wood stock on it.
