Strut10
Worldwide, this has been the coldest winter since 1966. What say ye, Al??
Shaun_300
Sure has been a crazy winter in this area too! We are very close to breaking the record winter snowfall amount for Ottawa which was set in 1970 something at 444cm (14.5 feet).
fly
I'd say this winter has not been the coldest, but the latest I've seen here in Illinois. Normally I consider winter Mid-November - Mid-February. This year it has been more like Mid-December - Mid March. I hope it ends by Mid-March anyway. Ten inches of snow recorded today. I'm not an Al Gore fan, but I strongly believe global warming is real and will create serious problems in the not so distant future. For anyone who disagrees, I sure hope you're right and I'm wrong. c_lou
Global warming is not just about the Earth getting warmer, it's also about extremes in weather. Like tornados one day and snow the next.
stevebeilgard
global warming is a total hoax. don't swallow too much of it.

rhine16
Was just thinking this morning how this has seemed to be the coldest winter we have had in a while. Wish it could be like this every year
Dubie
I don't put too much stock into the global warming. We've had ice ages before, and warm periods before. This tells me that the earth natrualy warms up and cools down all on its own, along with the crazy weather that follows these transisions. Besides, how can these 'climate experts' predict what the earth is going to do 10, 20, 100 years down the road, when they can't even tell me with any reliability weather or not I need to wear a jacket tommorow.... Turkeygirl
Global Warming...what's that? We haven't had a ton of snow this year, but we've had alot of cold, cold days this winter and we haven't had the usualy week long thaw we typically get in like February....Usually we have like a foot of snow that has to melt off come spring but right now, once it does stay warm, won't take long to melt. Can't do much about global warming and weather...it's in God's control, not ours.
Texan_Til_I_Die
If interested: The global temperatures from 1880-2006. Scarry. http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/science/recenttc_triad.html Now compare that to solar activity and you'll see the real cause of the warming and cooling of the planet. 2005 - 2007 saw a steady decline in solar activity and a corresponding decline in global temperatures. Oh, and during that same period of temperature decline, there was an increase in carbon dioxide and other "greenhouse gases" that have been so conveniently blamed for climate variations. There have been numerous periods over the last 2000 years, occurring on roughly a 250 year cycle, that have been warmer than the late 20th century. And all of that happened far in advance of the industrial revolution. Wake up folks, man made global warming (now they're calling it climate change since the "warming" is reversing), is nothing more than another attack on capitalism and the free market system. If you think NAFTA hurt the U.S. economy, try signing on to Kyoto and see what happens!

stevebeilgard
gore will not admit even today, that HE was one of those who signed on to global cooling only 35 years ago. he said we were headed towards the next ice age. all he says about his error of 35 years ago is "we have better information today". yea, right. sorry, i don't believe that there is anything man can do to change nature.
