NS whitetail
Why not take away the win ? http://www.nascar.com/2008/news/headlines/cup/03/05/cedwards.penalized.lasvegas/index.html
AdvantageTimberLou
They would never do that Lewis, its NASCAR, they have never done that but may in the future. Next step I would do is banned from an entire race. Huge loss not only in points you miss out on but in sponsors not getting what they paid for. Tick off a sponsor and no money, and money in racing buys speed!! They got caught cheating and they knew what they were doing, loosen the cover for the oil tank cover helps the airflow on the car makes it faster. Guys did it at Daytona too and got caught. So with this COT they are learning a few tricks, NASCAR is catching on. Don't see wins ever getting taken away though. The guy in 2nd does not want to win that way. Shaming the winners and trying to humilate them is as good as you can do. You can take away points, fine them money, suspend crew chiefs and they still cheat. You keep the cheaters at home and not able to race, well then you might stop some of the cheating!!!
Chrud
There would have been a DQ and loss of points, money and win for that night if that was a local race. That all would have come down in an hour or less after the race too, not half a week.
NS whitetail
Lou, you make a great point --- make them sit out the next race would maybe stop it some. I guess it's like most things in the world today ------ too much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ involved At least my boy Kahne jumps into 3rd in the points for now , he's doing much better than last year so far
VermontHunter
I agree with Lou,, NASCAR really needs to start parking these cars, and teams.... This will really get there attention .. I really feel bad for Carl tho ,, I think he races his heart out, and this has to make him feel cheated .. (I could be wrong but, I don't think so ) .. Guest Turtle
Any way we can get'em to adjust the fantasy points:(
craig mack
I think they could stop the cheating if they made them park the car for the next race. Sponsors would be PO'd.
Guest Turtle
From what I understand only the top two finishers go through a post race inspection. Used to be anyway, just in case winner had to be DQ'ed . So the option's there if they would ever decide to use it. Think if I were cheating, especially with something Nascar has been giving fines and penalties for all year, I'd try not coming in better than third. BowJoe
All I can say to Edwards is Karma's a *****! Remember his little tirades last year to Jr. and then his own teammate Kenseth? What goes around comes around. I'm not sure but I think a certain number of cars have to go through the inspection out of the top 10 and then they pick random cars throughout the field for inspection as well. I wouldn't want Jr.'s win to come this way anyway. It'd have all the Gordon and Johnson lovers (or better yet the Jr. haters) swelling up with conspiracy about NASCAR doing whatever it can to give Jr. a win.
