wtnhunt
Then what of those who are not chosen or predestined to be saved? Think that is where will comes into this John. God wants for us to be saved, that scripture supports that, it is His will. My own belief is that through Christ, pretty well all mankind has the opportunity at some point to accept Christ, but even if you do not accept him, God is still there and the holy spirit is still there. Brings me back to my first reply in this thread, He allows man to make choices, even those choices that will go against His will.
johnf
Clarification please. The way I took your first post is that the Holy Spirit is in everyone all the time, even before salvation. Is that what you are saying? Not trying to argue, just a clarification.

Not trying to argue, just a clarification. Nope, that was not exactly what I meant John. My thoughts in the most simplistic way I know how to put it that his will is for us to be saved, kind of like an uncorked bottle, it is there for us to do with what we chose. When you receive the holy spirit, it gets opened up, but it is there already for us to make that decision.

If it's already there, then we don't need to be filled.
wtnhunt
Think I explained my view as best as I can John;). Our little one, has had us kind of sleep deprived here lately:(, maybe what I wrote is not all that clear, although it makes sense to me I think:p. This discussion is a good one, not sure how else I can clarify. Basically in my understanding it(salvation) is ours to take if we chose to do so, therefore it is always available if you will, all you have to do is open your heart(uncork the bottle) and let it(the holy spirit) fill you. That clarifies it for me. I was thinking the same thing as John was. The Holy Spirit isn't "in" everyone, but everyone has the opportunity to allow him to come "in". scotman
The will of God is everything good in this world. It is something God puts in us but it is our choice whether we act on it. So say a women and man prays to God is called to serve God in the ministry. That man and women is doing the will of God by going into the ministry. Evil and bad is not the will of God. The will of God is only known if you pray to him personally. The way I was taught was you where saved and then received the holy spirit from God. You can't have the Holy Spirit without being saved. The Holy Spirit comes in many manifestations. But its a gift from God he gives you if you pray ask him for it after you are saved. Ok that is what I essentially believe but I do not believe you need to be saved like most Christians think of being saved is. If you accept God into your heart in the privacy of your home. God will save you. If your true and sincere. God is the only one that knows whats in your heart. I do not believe you need another person on this earth to help you communicate your feeling with God. The church is for fellowship and where others of the same beliefs can come and share in service and praise. A church can help you grow in your relationship with God. Its a great tool but you don't need it to be saved. God wants everyone to be saved. He doesn't sit up there and say well "Im going to only chose so and so I want to be saved". We where all created by God but it our choice whether we believe or not. We are his children. So yea I know it grieves him to see his children led astray by the bad of this world. Like it grieves us if our children are taken by drugs, alcohol and so on.
