WHISKEYSWAMP
here's a link to his interview... I think they could have just walk anywhere close to the tree and scared the bird away. Most hawks around here wouldn't stick around long. http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/?cl=6867218
TreeStandBowHunter
Gotta hand it to him, heck of a golf shot. I don't think he should be charged at all. Like mentioned in the story, we have bigger and better things to worry about. Yeah he is a moron but a moron that just happened to hit one heck of a golf shot in the process:D The guy feels bad, let him alone. Some of you sound worse than PETA:rolleyes:. If that was any of you, you would be proud of yourself:cool:

If that was any of you, you would be proud of yourself:cool: I doubt that. If I went into the lounge and made a post saying " I blasted a protected species with my 12 gauge yesterday" I would get shredded by everybody who responded and probably banned. This isnt any different really. He killed a protected bird.......I don't care if it was with a gun, golf ball, stick, rock, whatever.....the end result is the same. Nobody sounds like PETA in this thread, sounds like common sense to me.
PotashRLS
the guy sounds like a moron- I would have probably tried to do something like this when I was 13 years old...but to be a grown man who's a PGA tour player filming a TV show. Sounds like a huge DB. I agree totally, he is a moron. You would think being an adult, he would have pulled out a much higher percentage .22 Mag instead. Da....what a moron. Actually, We all, including myself have done something stupid in our younger years that we regret. Lucky for us we didn't have a camera crew with us. Being a moron is one thing, being a hypocrite is another. Don't judge too quickly.

JJL
As far as I am aware, Seagulls are also protected under U.S. law. I wonder if Grandma had to do a little "hard-time" in the klink??????????? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBx3SdeVvFI

If so, I have my own judgements I'll quickly place on you. I for sure have "done something stupid in my younger years" but I'm not sure this DB PGA tour pro with the killer 9 iron is still in his "younger years" and even if I was still in "my younger years" and there was somebody filming me, I'd still be intelligent enough to not do something that violates federal law. And would you willingly shoot an endangered species with a high percentage .22 mag?
superguide
Why not make him eat it beak and all on live TV that would probably get the message across-if we start hanging people for stupidity the world wouldn't have to worry about overpopulation. Texan_Til_I_Die
I say give the guy a trophy for pulling off such a fantastic shot! I've seen 1 blackbird killed by a drive and 1 cottontail killed by a worm burner. Didn't lose any sleep over either.
PotashRLS
Wait...are you calling me a hypocrite and defending this guy? If so, I have my own judgements I'll quickly place on you. I for sure have "done something stupid in my younger years" but I'm not sure this DB PGA tour pro with the killer 9 iron is still in his "younger years" and even if I was still in "my younger years" and there was somebody filming me, I'd still be intelligent enough to not do something that violates federal law. And would you willingly shoot an endangered species with a high percentage .22 mag? The .22 mag thing I thought was fairly obvious sarcasm and no I was not directing the hypocrite at you specifically. Purely drawing attention to everyone having done something they are not exactly proud of at one time or another. The guy messed up, he knows it. Is it worse that it was a hawk instead of a crow? Yes because of the law, but no because they are both living birds. I actually think a crow would have been smart enough to get out of the way. The hawk and the golfer were in the wrong place at the wrong time. It sure would have made a good scene in Caddy Shack though:D
