elkoholic
Well, we had another bird in the back yard that I have never seen before, so I took a picture (kind of blurry) and here you go. What is it?

c_lou
looks like an oriole Can't be...if it was an Oriole, it would be trying to trade it's 2 good wings for some prospect wings and maybe some washed up worms.

Randy
looks like an orioleThat would be my guess. I had one hanging around a couple years ago in one of my pinetree stands and I was trying to figure it out back then.

Guest Andrea
Didn't think orioles had those kinds of markings on their heads.......
wtnhunt
You are in Montana, the only oriole I see that is close that is in resemblence and where you are is a bullocks, and do not think that is what is pictured.
ruttinbuc
Not a female oriole.... http://content.ornith.cornell.edu/UEWebApp/images/MPR_080502_100048_S.jpg
elkoholic
My first thought was that it was an oriole, but if it is, then it is lost by several hundred miles. My wife thought it was a mutated robin but I think not. Still can't find it in the bird guide but I'm sure I just overlooked it.
buckbuster11
Not a female oriole.... http://content.ornith.cornell.edu/UEWebApp/images/MPR_080502_100048_S.jpg That's a picture of a female baltimore oriole. There are probably around 15-20 types of orioles worldwide and several whose ranges go up into northern Canada if I remember correctly. That one posted in the original thread looks similar to a northern or orchard oriole. Could be wrong though.
wtnhunt
That one posted in the original thread looks similar to a northern or orchard oriole. Could be wrong though. The markings on the head of the pictured bird are absent on the orchard oriole according to the field guide I am looking in, but the orchard oriole is barely into the eastern border of Montana. Tominator
I always miss the fun. My first guess was American Redstart, but I have to agree it's a varied thrush. Don't have them around here, so I would have had to look that one up. Beautiful bird.

elkoholic
Thanks buckee. Strange I've never seen one before as their range covers the corner of the state I live in. I never got a look at it in the sun light but it is sure a neat looking bird.
