njbowhunter27
Well I decided to start turkey hunting this year because I have been seeing so many turkeys. I bought a brand new mossburg 535,all new camo, calls and decoys, and lots of ammo to pattern. After a couple months of scouting and excitement I just found out I did not draw a tag for spring gobbler. Last year quota was only over by a little so I thought I was safe. I guess not thats just one more turkey for the coyotes to eat. I have a long wait untill next year since I have no fall season in my part of the state. Good luck to everyone I guess I will get ready for the fishing season. sskybnd
kinda like putting the cart before the horse, think i would have made sure i was drawn before buying all that, but atleast you have it when you do get drawn, and gives you plenty of time to pratice. beagleboy
You should get your NY non-resident tag. We have tons of birds and plenty of state land and great opportunities.
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
That stinks. Know anyone who was drawn that would let you tag along with them on their hunt? ya know, just to at least get the experience. Maybe you could help em by doing the calling for them? Or film it for them
AdvantageTimberLou
sorry to hear that, wish everyone could hunt them, great time to be in the woods in the spring. Maybe team up with someone and at least go out and be part of someone else's kill. More times its the hunt that you remember and not necessarily the kill but the kill is nice! Maybe next year. stevebeilgard
bummer. but, i have good news... you're all set for the 2009 season. lol
Grant-KS
Well that sucks! Sorry about the luck bud. You can come out here and shoot a bunch! I think they should be reclassified as a small game animal out here with a daily bag limit, and maybe a season limit or something. Too stinkin' many birds. elkoholic
That's too bad. I would be looking to hunt another state if I were you. Exploring new country is always fun and you could be looking for sheds while chasing a gobbler.
Hardwood_HD
sorry to hear that.. im glad we dont have to draw for tags here
OJR
Just head to Idaho and buy your tag over the counter. We have lots of turkeys! Of course, some of them don't have feathers! LOL!!!
Turkeygirl
Don't count your chickens before they hatch, lol. At least you are all set for last year but like beagleboy said, why not get a non-resident NY tag....some good hunting all over the state. The Kid
i would try and get another tag, i don't think i could go a whole year without turkey hunting!!!
Strut10
I'm thinking if my state required I draw a turkey tag.......I'd move.
joetex25
Well that sucks! Sorry about the luck bud. You can come out here and shoot a bunch! I think they should be reclassified as a small game animal out here with a daily bag limit, and maybe a season limit or something. Too stinkin' many birds. Gee Grant...a couple of us are headed "out there" in April. Hope you push a whole mess of 'em up to the Morrowville area (Washington County). Since we each have 2 tags, I'd hate for them to go to waste!! Good luck thining the flock this year!!! Hey njbowhunter27...like some others said about other states, come on over to Pa. There are plenty of State Game Lands around, and with a little bit of research, you can take that new gear for some hikes!! I hope you get many chances to get out...even if it's without a weapon! There really is more to it than pulling the trigger! But I really do agree with Strut10! Like so many others seem to be doing (though for other reasons), move out of NJ!! 13littleones
DIE HARD TURKEY HUNTER HERE! NOT GETTING DRAWN FOR A TAG WOULD BE THE LAST REASON FOR ME FOR NOT GETTING A TURKEY. NONRESIDENT PERMIT HERE I COME! I’M NOT TRYING TO BE RUDE NJ……JUST GO TO NY. AND BUY A NONRESIDENT TAG AND HAVE SOME FUN. EASY FOR ME TO SAY J
Guest HoppeMan
Sorry to hear that, man. I'd try to get a tag in another state close by. All that gear isn't cheap! Can't let it go to waste Take care, Nathan
Adjam5
Yeah, check out NY's gobblers. We have plenty here. Where are you in NJ? North or south Jersey?
LifeNRA
You should get your NY non-resident tag. We have tons of birds and plenty of state land and great opportunities. Could do the same in PA too! Or do both!!!
Rhino
I'm thinking if my state required I draw a turkey tag.......I'd move. Me too and if I could only draw 1 tag, I'd hunt multiple states too. You sure aren't far from several neighboring states to choose from. No time like now to start finding alternative places to hunt each year in your neighboring states.
