ROADKILL04
well i read in a forum in deer hunting that most people like the .19 site pins but i was told for hunting that the .29 are better for low light hunbting conditions well i was wondering what size hole yall use for a peep i tried the big mega peep last year and i will defintely go back to a smaller one with the tube because i was having trouble with it not turning i was told that the smaller the hole the more accurate well i wonder what kind of combo it would be with the smallest peep hole and the.19 site pin just asking for a little help thanks
VermontHunter
I use the G5 Hunter Large Meta peep which uses a 1/4" inside diameter hole .. As for my pin size ,,, I like the .29 for hunting situations .. http://www.g5outdoors.com/#sec_metaline
Guest spurcollector
I use the G5 in the 1/4" also. I still like the .19 pins. If you get long enough fiber optic they still light up good. I have Fitz Fiber in about 8" lengths.
Turkeygirl
I have a typical 1/4" peep sight, type with tubing, have never had a problem with it...and an Xtreme RT900 4 pin sight that has .29 pins with the Fitz fiber in them. They work well, especially since this past season was the first year using the Xtreme and I put 3 deer in the freezer.
Tominator
I think mine is 3/8"
HUNTINGMAN
Use the 1/4" G5 meta peep and .29 sight pins. The G5 is an excelent peep and I dont think it would have anything to do with your string not twisting to the correct position when drawing your bow, sounds like a string thing to me. mo_hunter
NO PEEP and .29 for the pins.
okiedog
Every sight I have is .019 pins. I use 1/4" G5 during the hunting season, and change to 1/8" G5 for 3D.
VermontHunter
NO PEEP and .29 for the pins. Funny you mention that.... I just bought my Katera and the bowshop wanted me to shoot at least 50 arrows before installing the peep.... While I was in the range he adjusted my sight accordingly and I was hitting the target fairly well without the peep....
8ptbuckpa
I am using .019 for hunting with 1/4"G5 metapeep, but gonna try .009 with the 1/8" for 3D
oldreloader
I use an archery specialty ball peep with a 1/8 " #6 verifier and .29 pins.
Dubie
I just put a 1/4' peep on my bow after the tech sold me on the idea that my groupings would go down...They went up, and I'm about ready to rip the thing off...
Widowmaker
I have the G5 meta peep that is 3/16" with .019 pins on my extreme sight. Took two deer this year and last! Any bigger and they are not precise enough imo.
WHISKEYSWAMP
I think mine is 1/4" peep... .19 pins for sure.
tedicast
Funny you mention that.... I just bought my Katera and the bowshop wanted me to shoot at least 50 arrows before installing the peep.... While I was in the range he adjusted my sight accordingly and I was hitting the target fairly well without the peep.... In all reality, all a peep really does is verify your anchor point. If you can anchor consistently, you can shoot consistently without a peep. I can't...lol I use G5 Meta's on all my bows. 1/4" for hunting, and 3/16" for 3D. Your peep twisting, and not lining up at full draw is not a peep problem, it is a tuning problem. Your proshop should be able to twist the string to get your peep to line up without you needing a rubber tube peep. Peep misalignment is ussually a result of sting stretch/creep. dg
Only your eyes can determine if .019 or .029 is okay for hunting. The color is important also for low light. Yellow shines the most for me, so it's my 20 yd color. Then green at 30 and red at 40. As for the peep, I have mine drilled to 1/8" and with the draw and size of sight, the hole is aligned with my Spot-Hogg sight housing. A short ATA bow with a sharper string angle at full draw may require a different peep size vs. a long ATA that positions the peep closer to the eye.
