Re: Whats your choice of rifles ??

I'm using my dad's Remington 22-250. Me and my buddy sighted it in today so I can't wait till tomorrow morning. Hopefully this time I won't miss. This morning I missed one at most at 150 yards. But my gun was shootin low. But it's my fault I should have had it sighted in before I started going out after cyotes.

Yep, I know of that too. The only problem is they get up close and personal with a stinger behind the hog's ear. Normally when a hog is dog cornered or stuck in a pen. 22's don't penetrate hogs very well. As a matter of fact I had a friend that heaad shot a hog from the front. The bullet grooved the skull between the eyes and deflected. The bullet was a 7mm Mag.

Similarly, I've seen a number of yotes shot with .22 rimfires that are still running around today. Personally, I hate to watch any animal suffer and I would rather drop it without a twitch of the tail.

I really like the .223 Rem. It will do the job when the bullet is placed in the right place. There are a lot of good quality bullets available and there are some very good factory loads on the market. The cartridge is chambered by most companies that make rifles. It is available as a single shot, semi, or bolt action. It has minimal recoil, can be superbly accurate, is a lot quieter than the .22-250, .220 Swift, .243 Win, etc, and it is effective to 400 yards.

Ronin you really see a 7mm deflected by a hogs head? what range? I couldn't count the wild hogs I've killed in a pen or bayed by dogs with a 22 rimfire. All these shots are less than 20 feet though. But then again I save everything but the oink. tried to jar it once but it went bad on me lol
