bluelund79
Hey all, I am going to be in South carolina for the next month. I am taking along a couple of tackle boxes and a handfull of rods. Any ideas on where to go as a shorebound angler. I am going to be in the Columbia area...Anything within an hour or so would be great, and thank you for the help ahead of time. bluelund79
It has been heating up down here. Caught as many today as I have the past week. Shored 6 fish, 5 being 1-1.5lbs with a 5.5lb anchor fish. Very healthy and released to fight again. When I get a cord for the camera, I will post a pic. All fish caught on Avacado/blk flake generic senko in 6ft of water along weed flat.
Leo
I know there is some great bass fishing near Columbia. Apparently, you found it! If you can make it down to Lake Marion, I urge you to try the catfishing there. Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie are the Santee Cooper lakes famous for WHOPPER catfish. 30 pounders are reasonably common and the locals won't even bat an eye at anything unless it's over 50lbs. Mussel meat (harder to get) and live and cut Blueback herring(most bait stores have this) are your top baits. There's tons of standing timber in the lake so proceed with caution or you'll be buying a new prop or foot for you motor. Honestly, almost every tree out there near deep water has a decent catfish or two on it. In the better spots you can fill your cooler but you can catch some of these fish in practically every likely looking spot on the lake. Seriously, if you got time try it! After you get your line broken a couple times by one of their outsized Bluecats you'll be seriously addicted and looking at buying some 50lb class tackle for a return trip. If I wasn't committed to turkey hunting with a friends father the next couple of days I'd consider trying to hook up with you.
