Kimber Montana

....the Montana 8400 series is an excellent mountain rifle.

I was looking seriously into the Kimbers, before I found my Winchester Featherweight..........There is a little more kick with these lightweight rifles....but that's all in the fun of it, in my opinion.I just wrap the sling once around my left hand, and tuck her in!

......Have you checked out the Kimber 325 WSM???-That would be my choice.

Recoil is not bad on a 300wsm. My Montana was pleasant to shoot. I have another serious issue with it that can't seem to ever get fixed which causes me to say spend the premium dollars on a Sako or other fine quality gun. I will never buy another Kimber - My problem is that with the 3 position safety in the fire position you can not chamber a second round and close the bolt. Bolt only goes about 1/4 turn down and will not close down any further. Back to Kimber twice with it returned in about 7-10 days each time - claiming it was fixed - promptly to the range and same result. I have had it now since November with a very qualified private gunsmith who can't figure it out either. I will not let him modify the bolt in any way to cause a safety issue so next step is back to Kimber with a demand for an entire new rifle. Basically I have a $1000 single shot which I would not have bought the Kimber if that is what I was after. Do a search here or over at accuratereloading.com and you will see allot of unhappy Kimber owners.
