Guest Heter32
I am hunting on land that is very plentiful. I'm talking flocks of 20 to 30 birds on this farm. If I don't know the roost do you think it is ok that I just know where we see them most often?
WHISKEYSWAMP
the flocks will tend to disperse when spring and turkey season rolls around. On my favorite hunting grounds the birds seem to roost on the same ridge 90% of the time. If you set up and don't get any gobbling, stay put for a little while longer but then it's time to go find one that's willing to work with you. jbeck
I like to head out at least 2 weeks before season, every chance I get and listen to where the birds are roosted. I then try to listen to which way they head after fly down. Set up between the roost and where they are going in the morning. Remember, the easiest thing to do is call a turkey where he already wants to go.
Leo
I am hunting on land that is very plentiful. I'm talking flocks of 20 to 30 birds on this farm. If I don't know the roost do you think it is ok that I just know where we see them most often? YES! The truth is a gobblers roost is only where he is first thing in the morning. That's important to know but knowing where they spend the majority of the day is your best odds after they fly down. If you find one roosting in the morning get between where he is roosting and where they spend most of the day. If you can't find a roost spot stick to where they'll most likely show up later in the morning.
