Rhino
I think you are right Al, and that is why it likely makes it a good time to be looking to buy. There should be some deals to be found out there if you have the capital for the investment and with a little patience money to be made. Another words a good time to start looking. Good point. I think it may take a little time for individual landowners to realize that with tightened credit markets there are going to be far fewer people around that can afford to buy land for the next few years. That is for the ones that don't find themselves having to sell or needing to sell. Could be some foreclosure opportunities coming up too. stevebeilgard
you said short term. to me, land is not liquid and generally long term. i'll go back to gold. it's just over 100 bucks an ounce, with the experts calling for 1200-1500 within the year. grain is also the big thing now. the corn market is currently going hog wild due to fuel usage. that may well change in 5 years or so, but you said short term. listen sunday morning to "bulls & bears" on fox news. they come up with lots of good ideas. i've been listening for 5 years or so, and they are 90% right on.... go from there. sskybnd
im with you on the grains, i think futures on grain would be the way to go, if oil wasnt so high that would be the way to go, you'd make a killing if you bought 2 or three when it was around $80.00 a barrel
Ravin R10 man
Eternity!.... I got more riches up there than any man has seen. Prov. 11:4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath; but righteousness delivereth from death. Mat.6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where theives break through and steal; :21 for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. brownie65
I have to agree with the guys that say land is a long term investment. Also land prices are pretty high right now. 15 years ago you could have bought ground here for $500 a acre & sell it now anywhere from $3000-5000 a acre. That is a great profit. But I don't really see it going up that much anymore. Yes, I think you can always make money on land but it is long term & don't think the profits will be what they are. One exception could be if you can find some that might be needed for a expansion soon. I personally like grain futures, international stocks & small companies. It is the stock market, no sure thing, can make a little or lose. Research all you can.
brownie65
Question-- is there a main website that any of you guys use to research stocks/futures ? Do any of you use a online investing site to buy stocks & if so what do you use ?
