Ravin R10 man
Is this a problem here, or does it happen everywhere these days? Seems people see a road sign they like, or the name matches their name and all of a sudden the post and or the sign is GONE! We have about 12 that need replacing in or township this spring. The dumb thing is Fire and Ambulance need those to help get to a residence in an emergency!
cinch314
I used to do it as a kid til I got older and learned that the EMS and police need those for emergencies then I stopped. I do know one thing, I never took any railroad crossing or stop signs because I knew that those were too dangerous.
toddyboman
Some not as much anymore...comes and goes with the kids.......... IMO it is a silly idea for the county/State whomever to NAME the roads like that....In a city thats one thing but out in the rural areas on the gravel roads where no one is around people can and sometimes just take them and NO ONE will ever catch them......Big waste in money IMHO. People are a lot less likely to see a number than a name....
Shaun_300
I know of guys in highschool who did that, stupid in my opinion. They'd take signs from roads and snowmobile trails.
stevebeilgard
it's a kid thing. happens all the time, all over
AdvantageTimberLou
I seen a snowmobile trailer the other day and the front mud/debris guard was a huge Grand River Rd. exit sign. Guy didn't even bother to turn it around backyards. Maybe he got it at an auction or something, but pretty sure its against the law to take them even if they have fallen down. buckee
That's been going on since I was a kid too. Flags used to be the big item in the 60's. They made good hippie curtains and table cloths
Gator
Yard ornaments and what not is also fun, put them is someone else's yards!!!
Dubie
I notice the new grater operators often knock them down when plowing snow, and they end up buried for the winter.... I used to take the snow-mobile trail signs as a kid, but that was because they ran the trail through my property without permission. Then down the road in the front, and every single resident on the road didn't want the trail comming down there when there is a major highway one mile over they can travel along. And I disagree that I should be forced to pay some private organization, on top of my registration fees, to take my registered and legal snowmobile into public property. If they want to volunteer to groom the trails, thats thier business. I'd be just as happy if they didn't.

Swamphunter
Around here they use bolts with heads that once tightened cannot be untightened with a screwdriver. Not sure how they would remove them. One of our local route numbers is "420"... the stoners like that one.
Randy
"420"... the stoners like that one. We have a "Hemp Rd." sign that always ends up missing as well....
wtnhunt
Seems vandalism is a bigger problem around here.

In highschool I (had this friend see) who took a sign that could not be unbolted so my friend climbed the pole and wiggled the top back and forth until it broke off. The sign said Fairlane. He had a 1969 Ford Fairlane. It was a great looking car that he worked on all the time. Looking back on it, I'd agree it was stupid, but no where near as destructive as some of the crazy things that I've heard about lately. Guest Turtle
Yep same here, Hwy #3, Dale Earnhardt Blvd sign gets replaced quite often. Less often but on regular basis are the ones on gameland, Bucks Grave, Hunter's Quest, and Archer's Lane to name a few.
