JimT
Hey Everyone. I am thinking about getting one of these for my girlfreind. She is going to be my "apprentice" this year hunting. First up is turkey. Any opinions would be appreciated. I just looked at one over to Dicks. Feels good, is lite at 5.25 pounds, and was only $250.00. Thanks.... bluelund79
You can honestly not go wrong with a Mossberg as a starter gun. I own 4 of them(3 shotguns, 1 rifle). I like my 500 combo...you may want to look into that as well if you plan on her deer hunting with you as well. However, if Maine as rifle season, Mossberg also has a Bantam model rifle called the ATR in 243, 270, 308, and 30/06. Happy hunting, oh yeah shop around some, I picked up my 500 Deer/Waterfowl combo(3 chokes, 1 28" bird barrel, 1 ported 24" cantilever rifled barrel, cheap scope/rings) for $299. Congratulations on getting your lady hunting with you!
Turkeygirl
I bought a Mossberg 500 20 ga Super Bantam synthetic in camo for turkey back in February for $269 from Bass Pro. I't one nice little gun, and better fitting than my regular Mossberg 500 20ga. The factory fiber optic sights that came on it aren't the greatest, was patterning about 2" high, but the pattern was centered and tight. I'm probably going to put a TruGlo Red Dot on it. For shotgun deer season, I'll probably get a rifled slug barrel for it. this is only the second gun I've owned, still have the regular Mossberg 500 20ga...never had an issue with them
Bowtech_archer07
I started out with that gun and absolutely loved it!!! Great shooting, very little kick, and light makes the perfect combo for a youth or smaller hunter
Adjam5
Great gun to get started with and it has the capability to grow with it. The stock can be changed for adult sizes, Mossberg gives you a 1/2 off coupon on the adult size stock when you are ready. The Mossberg is a tough gun too, you will get years of use from it. Great deal for the money
