Nick
If Junior is running top 5 consistently.....it is only a matter of time before there will be first place finishes with those top 5's. Heck, he should probably already have a win under his belt but the cheater (Edwards) got the win. And you pretty much scratch them bonus points out for a win for that race since he was docked them points. JR was in jeopardy of going a lap down several times at Bristol running in the mid-20's position wise and Eury JR brought the car back and made it a top 5 car. How can you complain? VermontHunter
It's all about those BONUS POINTS .. Win the race and get those extra 10 points .. Run all of the top 5's and 10's you want if you don't win races you don't get to be CHAMPION .. plain and simple.. As for Jr. he's far better off than last season, and I wish him nothing but the best,, with the way the Fords and Toyotas are running this season everyone is going to need a little luck this season .. Guest Turtle
Yes need bonus points and wins, just didn't see any indication that he wasn't capable of that based on the way he's been running. To say he can't has no validity to it. Not one thing to back it up and is utterly senseless statement to make at this point in the season. He has been consistently in the top barring crashes in all point races. Although the first two weren't points races they proved they can win. Points or not if it hadn't been for a loose oil container lid the 88 team would of won 3 of their first 5 races with Hendricks. To think Tony don't belong where he is you must not be paying attention. It was a tall order with high expectations and the 88 team has proven themselves faster than I think most thought they would. Guest Turtle
Who cares if he's beating his teammates or not? In some organizations it may not mean a lot, but his teammates have 6 Championships between them.

BINGO! Luke sees it, you have to get the W's to get the bonus points. No wins, no bonus points. He is in better equipment but he needs to get some wins before the chase to get those bonus points to give him some cushion in the chase. Guest Turtle
Again, I think we all agree you need W's. Was looking for justification of why someone would say they will "never" get them when their running well every week.

Chrud
What does all of this talk have to do with Richard Childress Racing, the subject of this thread? Good question. I guess I shouldn't make any other observations in my own threads. Since I need another jab...everyone seems to be talking about winning races. I never said they wouldn't win a race, I said those two will never win a championship. I do believe they'll get win #1 at Richmond.

Ummm you'd have to win ALOT of races to gain any "real" lead come chase time. Like I said before...all a team has to do is make the chase right now. Even if they make the chase in 12th place...they still will be close enough to 1st with 10 races to go to win it all. Yeah a win here and there will help...but not needed. I don't exactly agree with Tony and Jr's chemistry...but Mr. Hendrick isn't stupid...he wouldn't have hired Tony if not for a good reason! The big deal in the Chase will be winning races in it to win it outright. Johnson proved that last year, Gordon got great finishes but Jimmy got the wins. Wins got him his 2nd championship. Personally I say get rid of the Chase format. Go back to get all the points you can, if they did that Gordon would have 6 Championships under his belt. So what if the leader ran away with the points lead towards the end of the season, they did their homework and spanked you at the racetrack, go back to the shop, work on your set-up and try to beat them on the track. NASCAR saying everyone in the top 12 can win it in the Chase format is not fair for the guys who showed they can stay at the top for 26 races into the season. Then again if Sr. was around, none of this would be happening, NO COT, no Chase, just good old racing!!

Oh yeah, sticking to subject guess we were both glad to see Childress 1,2,3:D Enjoy your week off Chrud see ya in two weeks to debate next race. AdvantageTimberLou
Enjoy your week off Chrud see ya in two weeks to debate next race. What no one wants to debate the Nationwide race that is this Saturday at Nashville? We can continue the debate on Sunday as Childress will have a few cars in that race! Carry that debate over to Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of next week! LOL!!!

Guest Turtle
Scott Wimmer was tearing up the ASA circuit about 8 years ago. Moved up to Busch and I really thought he'd see more success earlier, hope this sparks things to come.
