bluelund79
Are these handguns any good? I am looking for 2 different revolvers, 1 w/ 6-8" barrel in either .44 mag or .454 Casull and 1 w/2-3" barrel in .38 Spc for the house. They have attractive prices. Are these the Mossberg's of revolvers? If they are, count me in for 2. However, if they are junk, I'd like to know so I can get the Ruger Redhawk for hunting and start the hunt for a home defense little detective special revolver. I already have a XD-40, but my spouse can't safely rack the slide. Figured a small frame revolver would be better for her, besides, I want one also. The biggest concern is the Taurus in .44Mag or .454 Casull for my new hunting outfit. I hunt in a shotgun area, and sometimes, carrying something new sounds fun also...Thanks in advance. Strut10
I'd rate the Tauruses as "good" to "quite good". Not Smiths........but excellent guns for the money. There are three .38 Spl. Model 85's (two stainless and a titanium) and a (I believe) 669 .357 in the family. Used to be a Model 58 .380 Auto as well. All shoot well or better......the .357 is my dad's and it's a tack driver. We had a problem with the titanium .38 having a bent front sight from new. Taurus handled it very quickly and to our satisfaction.
Hoosierbuck
By and large I think they are very serviceable weapons. My dad has one, and it's pretty nice, never given anyone a problem. I had a .44 for a while, and it was fine, too. HB
johnf
I've got a 38 snubby that I got for my wife. It's very easy to handle for people with small hands and small enough to fit into a pocket in your loose fitting jeans. Very good gun for the money IMO. Rem308
My dad bought a .38 snubby and we shot it quite a bit this weekend, very nice little gun. It felt great and shot pretty good, more accurate than any snubnose that I've shot. I really liked it, my brother-in-law said he's going to get the same gun. Texan_Til_I_Die
I've got the .357 with the 6 inch barrel. It stays in my truck, along with 2 additional speed loaders. Very accurate out to 50 yards with the factory sights. I trust it.
bluelund79
Sounds like my 2008 purchase will have to get made when I get home next month. Thank you everybody. While I still would love to have a Ruger Redhawk, that'll have to wait when I can buy 2 guns and a scope for almost the price of one...I'll save the Ruger for whatever caliber I don't get in the Tracker or Raging Bull.....I believe that I am going to go with the .44 mag for ease of finding ammo readily available and .38 special for the snubby. johnf
I like the tracker, but havn't had the cash to get one yet. Anyway my wife would probibly shoot me with it for buying it.
Indy-Travis
I have a .44 tracker and it is a nice pistol. I also have had one of their snubbie .38s, really liked it (regretfully traded it away), and have bought a taurus snubbie .32 H&R Mag. for the wife that is a great little gun. It outshoots any other snubbie I have ever owned for accuracy, and I think I may replace my .38 with another .32 Mag for me.
