natethebowhunter
I would like to ask my neighbor for permission to shed hunt on his property. I was wondering how i should approach him. Should i call or do it in person? How should i start off the conversation? I want him to know im just looking for sheds and i don't intend to harm any property or hunt on it. Some help please??????????????
Zambo
Do it in person and tell him just what you posted. I manage 5600 acres and deal with alot of hunting and shed hunting requests. I like the man that will take the time to come down and see me. Also ask if there is anything you could do to earn your spot. I seldom ask for a return favor but it's nice to know someone is willing to earn thier keep.
whitetailtrax
Great question! I have asked via email, written letter, telephone and in person. All can be effective. Like Zambo mentioned, ask if there is anything you can do in return. The first time I asked permission on a piece of land near a major highway, I offerred to carry a garbage bag and pick up garbage - the owner was gratefull and I brought home a lot of garbage and a couple small antlers. Good luck!
Guest malikai
Those are all great methods, try to be curteous and polite, but dont be over-the-top nice. If the owner sais 'no', just accept it, but dont burn bridges (Like, being a jerk to him because of his answer), because he may see that you were polite and let you come around for sheds next year, you never know.
